after market Hurst installed with 3,500 miles - no grid at 14,000 miles. Read the entire post to see what the deal was.

Hurst with bronze bushings, syncromesh fluid in V6 manual.

14 ss. has happened about 6 times in the past few days. only 50 miles. should i be concerned.? reminds me of the 3/4th gear grind of an07 civic si i had.

Try not to let in grind....this is what happens every time it grinds,a little more of the synchro ring get chewed off.

It should get better with more miles.I wouldn't do high RPM shifts anyway with only 50 miles on the clock.

30,000kms and definately 2 nd gear grinding at high rpms, both oem ss and aftermarket hurst. Found it more with the hurst. Talked to my dealer and he says its the synchros. yesterdsay though, I had it in second, slow speed shift and it was rattling like a bugger..shifter was dancing and eery noises...all other gears good. drove it home to BC today from Emonton and it was fine, except for the 2nd gear grind at high rpm fast shift. It is a bummer cause thats why i bought this shifter...will be calling dealer tomorrow.

I had the 2nd gear grind. my dealer put a new transmission in at just under 3,000miles. it now has 34,000 miles and runs great. 2011 2SS with factory hurst.

Got a new second gear and synchros......works awesome. Really feel the difference. Clutch is ok.

I know this thread is old but I'm going to try and ask anyway... My car has 42,xxx miles and is out of warranty but I have the dreaded 2nd gear grind. Is this something chevy may have recalled and they will put in a new synchro because of the recall or am I on my own for the repair costs?

Your car still has the 50,000/5 year powertrain warranty. I would take it to the dealer and speak to the service manager.

No gring to second, but I can hear a noise when I push the clutch in. Like something maybe loose. Any info?

You're lucky. Anywhere near redline and mine grinds every single time unless I shift very slowly. I don't know how people drag race the manual. I've had multiple Corvettes for years that never had such an issue.

And when it's cold out, a simple shift at very low RPM grinds randomly.

Very, VERY, VERY annoying and disappointing.

I have it, '14 SS, 6500 miles, MGW..
had it from new with 70 miles and OEM shifter too.

sometimes into 4th as well, but not as bad.

I had it until I switched to Redline D4 ATF, been over a year now, and hasn't made a grinding sound since.

How bad was it before redline and how long did it take for the redline to help? I just changed to redline Wednesday and havnt noticed much of a difference yet
