Am I reading that right? It's a 4 cylinder? Nevertheless, that is impressive! I bet it hauls ass with a chip.

Maybe not, they might be getting closer to the potential. I know they supposedly have some relatively flat torque curves (hard to tell with the dyno graph), but more peak HP and torque would probably cause more dropoff earlier as well. Those are some good numbers if true though. Having driven a turbo vehicle for years, the benefits are too many to ignore and not integrate.

The dyno shop Insideline uses always reads high, and they always say the car is "underrated", "conservatively rated", or "likely makes more power than advertised", or some variation on that theme.

Take a look at just about every other car Insideline takes to the dyno, lots of "underrated" cars out there according to Insideline.

Anyway Motortrend just did a review on the new 328i and I think the relevant numbers you are interested in are:

0-60: 5.6
1/4 mile: 14.2 @ 97.8 mph

Tad quicker off the line but not much if any faster in the quarter.

Them suckers are much quicker then i thought they would be, and while they may not be AS underrated as Insideline suggests, It seems a bit more stout than 240 HP considering it is like 3600-3700 pound car.

I think that it about half a second quicker through the 1/4 mile than the last 328i. It has only 10 more hp, but 55 ft-lb of torque as low as 1250 rpm so that improvement seems about right to me.

FWIW the sedan they tested was only 3480 lbs.
