Way Stiffer Ride Coming?

I'm thinking about getting the 1.3/1.5 split drop and wanted to know if anyone had an idea if my car would scrape in situations? Anyone have it and have a review on it? I'm really looking for a v6 review on it. I know the v8 and v6 have different style of rides. Would I be better off buying a shorter drop? I don't want my ride to suffer tremendously from this drop. What do you guys think? Thanx

Also, this may seem like a dumb question, but I'm thinking of getting long tubes and would it scrape the long tubes?

From what I've read, going lower than 1" puts to much on the stock shocks and you end up with a crappy ride. I believe that's why most are going with coilovers instead.

I wouldn't say "crappy," but it's definitely a lot stiffer/rougher.

Would it matter that I'm a v6? Isn't the v8 more of a sports car type of feel where its a little more stiff soft? I dont know if that would make a difference. I'm worried about scraping long tubes since it looks like i might all the time and that cant be good :(

In our design phase we looked at the OEM shocks and decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to drop the car more than 1.25 inches, that's why our drop spring are designed to lower the car 1.25 inches. Much lower than that whether you're talking about V6 or V8 shocks, it's not going to be in a great portion of the damper stroke and effect your ride quality a little bit.

The differences between the V8 and the V6 are relatively minor, and when you're moving to drop springs you are moving to a sports car style spring rate. Whether you're running a V6 or V8 our springs will be the same spring rate and you will end up with a very similar ride quality which ever car you install them on.

We are releasing a revised spring package for the v6 soon. Due to some unexpected changes the V6 cars require a slightly longer spring. Watch on Camaro5, our Facebook page and Website for up to date V6 spring kit release information!

For the new v6 springs, will the bump stops have to be cut also?

Yes. The v6 bump stops will indeed need to be trimmed. There is absolutely no reason to be nervous about the procedure... we just trim the stop to gain a little bit more bump travel before hitting the bump stop and upsetting ride quality. It's extremely easy and can be done with a razor blade in about 30 seconds per stop. This will be needed just about any time you lower the vehicle since you're putting the shocks in a slightly lower range of their travel.

What will the v6 specific springs offer over your regular springs?

Use on a V6.

They will be extremely similar in rate and over all ride height change. Functionally they will be the same, except the spring package will work on a V6.

That sounds really good, I think I'm going to wait it out until that one is released and might go with the v6 package

I got a V6 and went Granetelli. Drop = 1.25" in front and 1.5" in back. The ride is frickin' awesome. I gotta tell you the only time I can tell a differnence in the ride is a bump (which I only feel a slight increase in stiffness) or when I make a fast turn or lane change the car stays flat and is more responsive. I've done nothing else to my suspension. I really like these things. I was nervous about the larger drop in back but it's a good thing and nicely levels out the car. I like a good rake too but this car looks sweet with these springs. I've had these springs for two weeks plus now and have absolutely no complaints. Joe Granetelli know his stuff... Two thumbs up!!!
