LS3 Gear 2 difficulty...

Everyone once in awhile my car doesn't want to shift into gear 2.... no idea why. It's probably 1 in 10 shifts...but it's definitely there.... anyone have any ideas?

It's a brand new transmission...so it's not a gear tooth issue....

It has a gear lockout, called skipshift. It helps the mileage. There should be a light on the dash when this happens. It makes you fo from 1st to 4th when you are not accelerating hard. I know it sucks, but it was on the 4th gen also.

Yep it is skip shift. Ask some of the guys around here there is something you can buy to have it turned off.

Yup, that's skip shift. It's to help save gas mileage. There should be a little light in the DIC/gauges notifying you. You have to shift directly to 4th gear. The other alternative is to stop driving like a granny (skip shift is only activated if you give it less gas).

This might work for the Camaro....

It's the dreaded skip shift we 4th genners had to deal with. The computer will force you to shift from 1st to 4th when you are driving economically. When you take off a bit harder than usual, it will allow you to shift into 2nd. I have a skip shift bypass on my 4th genner. I'm sure they will be available shortly for 5th gens.

So far everyone who's driven one really hasn't encountered skip-shift. So you're the first Camaro5 member to drive the car like a granny. Good job!

Wait, so I have to go from 1st gear to 4th gear??

I thought the skip-shift was so that you HAD to go through all the gears and you couldn't skip shift...

Wtf, I'm having this removed ASAP.

Theree's a little arrow pointing from 1 to for that shows up in the DIC. I've seen it a few times. I usually just hold 1st a little longer to get to the point which it allows me to go to second. I haven't been bothered by it too much. I will be removing it as soon as we confirm the workaround works...

On the other hand, have you noticed any squeaks coming from where the A pillar meets the top of the dash? Both pillars are doing it now on bumpy roads. I'm going to see if there's something I can do to fix it.

No squeaks yet Kdbolt70. I haven't taken her on a dirt road yet though!!

I'll keep my ears peeled for this....

So I'm going to drive her during lunch to try and see this 1 to 4 light....

I'm sure next year's model will have it's own issues....

Why wait? Any issues can be fixed through warranty....

Ok, saw the indicator.

Not sure how I missed that before...it takes up the entire DIC window. I even got a couple pics of it but I forgot my mini-usb cable. Will upload the pics tonight.

IMPORTANT!!!

If the car does not want to go into second and you force it, you will bend the pin that is trying to lock you out. Doing this will void the warranty on your tranny.

Most cars 500. Even if they say 1000, you might want to do it just to be nice to your baby.

Mine is doing something similar but isn't the skip-shift. I can hear a 'clank' sound when depressing the clutch to take it out of 1st gear. I know there aren't adjustments for clutch tightness on hydro versions. Anyone have an idea of possible causes?

Well, is it when you press in the clutch, when you let out the clutch, or when you move the shifter out of first? And is it when parked or when moving?
