And no, I don't own a Saturn.

So, wait....if my car is this fast on rice.....how much faster would it be on gasoline?

Wow.

Thanks but no thanks, I'll just stick with rice....have you SEEN gasoline prices lately?

Exactly.

What if the next alternative fuel is rice? The Camaro could be a rice burner!

The new Camaro (any Camaro really) is a rice burner, they burn ricers at every opertunity.

If I had a supra, I would put an LSx in it.

Well, that makes plenty of sense.

Who wouldn't want a supra with a pushrod engine that requires fully forged internals to accomplish what a stock Supra block can.

Maybe when you buy your 09 Camaro, you can remove the LSX and replace it with something weaker too!
Cavalier I4 maybe?

That makes no sense. The LSX can get into the 1000s hp range relatively easy. The Supra engine would need extensive modifications to do that too. Same result and pretty much the same cost, but with a V8 you get the added benefit of a nice flat torque curve standard.

Exactly. For the record, this has been beaten to death on other forums. I was just making a light hearted joke. Honestly, if someone gave me a supra, I would sell it. There are plenty of people that would pay $40-$60k+ for the thing.

Perhaps you are confused, the block in question is the LSX, not LS 'insert number here'. It is said to be capable of 2500 hp, however it is not a regular production engine, or even a crate engine. Its an iron small block that can be bored and stroked out to 510 cu (8.4L).

what, um.....what -
What Supra blocks have you seen that can best an LS- series engine? I'm willing to bet that with money(mods cost something) - they're the best V8 blocks in the world. Pushrod or not. But my question stands; explain yourself.............please.

Well here's the deal. $ for $ you can get more horsepower out of a NA pushrod v8..any day...anywhere. Take the turbo and nitrous off your motor and you might as well use it to cut your lawn.

Sure there are plenty of fast tuner cars out there..I don't deny that. In fact, some will beat what I own. But to me, all tuners and ricers (yes I know the difference) sound like lawnmowers and I can't get over that. They make go-karts that are super fast, but that doesn't make them cool, nor does it make them muscle cars.

There is no replacement for displacement my friend. That has and as long as the internal combustion engine powers our toys, will always remain true.

Last time I checked, the fastest accelerating cars (Top Fuelers) in the world had 8 cylinders and pushrods.

To each his own. You like yours. I like mine. Doesn't make you wrong. Doesn't make me right. Funny thing is, I see you on a Camaro forum. I have no desire to go on a Supra forum. Besides, I couldn't read the Japanese if I did.

Haha...it was just a matter of time before one of you guys spat this redneck anthem loud and proud...you are just the perfect example of "that guy."
Thank you for giving me a chuckle!
lol

Defend as you will, but you're all wrong.....firstly, you guys are comparing apples to oranges.
The 2JZ is a stock iron block engine...the LSX is an iron block aftermarket racing engine.
Not really fair.
Then I can just trump your aftermarket LSX with a stroked 3.8L 2JZ and all bets are off.

Now, back to the original debate: LS1/2/3 vs 2JZ.

With regards to an LS1,2,3,etc.....an alloy block is no comparison to an iron block when boost is concerned...thus the 2JZ wins every time.

Sure...an LS1 stock bottom end can maybe run 600-700hp on race gas, but not more than once or twice before disaster.
I've seen countless Supras run 1000+hp on stock bottom ends over and over and over....then are daily driven and taken to the grocery store.

I know it's hard for a lot of dumbestic folks to see past the American flag hanging in front of the eyes, so my replies and energy, I'm sure, is totally wasted here. Not sure why I bother...

No, the 2JZ is not the best motor out there, I'm not saying it is....but...
the LSX doesn't even compare.
You have to get a new block from Chevy and aftermarket heads to make some real power, where the 2JZ makes over 1500hp on the stock block and stock ported head.

I haven't even mentioned that the Supras are doing that on the stock rear end and tranny too!!!!
How many LS-based cars are doing that?
And don't even get me started on that suspension.

I bet you guys didn't know the 2JZ also holds the record for the standing mile also...
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/b...cf00f8789e.htm

funny...I don't see any LSX streetcars doin that!
WTF???

MAN you guys are easy to annoy.
That's why this is so much fun for me!

...and there IS replacement for displacement...

w00t.

I rest my case.

The thing for me is that someone 3L I6 with a fair bit of upgrades will be able to make over 1000 hp. Thats very nice. A n/a big block can do that too. But you can also add things like a turbo or supercharger to that massive engine and then comfortably double the hp, if they wanted to they could tripple it. of course, things tend to get expensive at this point.

I'm not going to bother responding to all that stuff so here is my selection

All other variables created equal (weight, drag, suspension, gearing, etc) a bigger engine with more cylinders while still making the same hp will be better for racing.

The whole 'cant get past the American flag' thing doesn't apply to those of us who aren't from the US.

I'm pretty sure you bother us because you enjoy iritating people.

Turbos- they are only for small engines? I'm sure that you can buy them for engines bigger than 3L. In fact, I'm positive that 20 years ago a twin turbo firebird got the land speed record for a passenger car, something in the range of 280 mph. But perhaps I'm wrong and that the only cars that can have turbo systems of any kind are imports with small engines

Okay, Mr. Rice Rocket...this is another thread today that you're taunting us in...and frankly, I'm getting a little pissed - all jokes aside. We don't need this type of talk here. Speak your mind about engines, and such - but ease off the insults. Okay?

So can you tone it down, please? Thank you.

AS for everybody else, thank you for 'gently' responding. (let's keep it that way)

See when people start bragging about their boosted little engines, all I can think of is the guy who drove past me on the freeway on my morning commute one day in his little Honda. We're cruising around when he decides to floor it. He passes me then BOOOM, he just plain explodes. Fragments everywhere and he's just sitting there with the look on his face saying "what the @$%& just happened?" Sure you can tune the crap out of a tiny little engine, or you can spend less money to get the same power out of a bigger engine while putting much less stress on it, with a better power curve too. Remember, peak numbers aren't everything.

Uh..a turbo is an artificial means to increase a motor's displacement..by increasing pressure and allowing more air and fuel. So thanks for proving me correct.

Yes sir, I am "that guy", the guy that is correct.

Thanks again. This is fun.
