Any good tuner that has the trans tune figured out. Jannetty obviously has the trans tune figured out because SupercharchedSS has made 100's of passes with like over 600RWHP on the stock trans and it lived fine.

i really dont know much about the trans. but i will say that i would guess GM would use a trans that can handle more power than stock. just for insurance and safety reasons, when we build cars the major parts should be able to handle beyond what they were made to do.

its like when you put a cam in your car, you use valve springs that can handle more that your cam specs. just to be safe.

Also all you have is a cam setup. Throw in FI or spray with VVT and let me know how far you get. There's a reason all high HP guys are running ls3 conversions - its proven. If you want to use your car as a test mule for VVT limits I would be very very interested and would subscribe at once to your post.
Used to have the Mast Stage II VVT cam along with a 200 shot of the jiggle juice. Made +800tq/645rwhp for over 1 1/2 years without any problems. Well except for having to refill the bottle after every 4-5 runs and purchasing new tires often.

sooooo from everything I am reading... People seem to be running just fine on the VVT cams and making great power.

I am stuck on the fence of which way to go.

It seems that those of us running VVT cams are very happy with them and that most of us also agree that there is nothing wrong with LS3 conversions, it also seems that those who have negative things to say about VVT cams have no personal experience with them. As mentioned before there has been no postings of VVT failures. There have been many posts of AFM failures as well as spring failures and other valvetrain failures but they are not VVT related. In fact, other than with very mild VVT cam's, getting rid of the AFM related parts is still suggested and sometimes essential. I know this doesn't help in deciding and I am not trying to persuade anyone on going with VVT because it doesn't matter one way or another to me. I do know I'm very happy with mine despite the fact my tune hasn't been dialed in yet and if for some reason I do have a problem I will inform everyone on that problem and the cause.

Dude this thread wasn't that bad, go back and read some "VVT threads" that are 2/3 years old.

I laugh at people saying vvt is a gimmic or there is no benefit. It is simply being able to degree your cam on the fly. Finding the right cam settings during tuning takes time, but the results speak for themselves.

The true benefits of VVT are only now starting to be seen. Thanks in large part to TSP and most recently yourself.

You didn't answer why VVT is not reliable again.
6800 rpm's Sounds Way Right!!!

I see nobody answered your question, and i hope you didnt read this thread because i just did and i am now dumber.

Question is what is your HP goal and more importantly, do you want to change the torque converter when you cam it.

Driveability is good on most all vvt cams, I would stay away from the bigger vvt grinds on a stock converter. It will really want to push through the brakes at a stop in gear. VVT2 or Mast HO cam would be decent choices for a stock converter until more custom cam options are available, and they are coming.
