Your header kit may or may not come with front o2 extenders. You will most likely need them because the header will be relocating the front o2 sensor, since the new bung will be down near the collector. I personally don't like o2 extenders as they can come unclipped etc. I'd try and research and see if you can unclip your o2 harness and see if there is any slack.

O2 non foulers are another trick to avoiding the CEL. http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how...ouler-how.html

BUT, you will want to get the car tuned so you can have Catalyst over temp disabled. It is a function of the vehicle's pcm to send excess fuel to cool down your non existent or high flow cats that no longer require this. Which in result makes you run richer than you need to be pretty much negating the real performance gain of headers.

I personally feel factory header gaskets are a good option.

Header studs are the same for all Gen III/IV LS: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-Ls6-Ls3-...item3382bbd460

Here's the ARP: http://www.texas-speed.com/p-429-arp-header-studs.aspx

O2 extension for the front O2 sensors: http://www.texas-speed.com/p-782-24-o2-extension.aspx These are needed because "long" tubes inherently move the location further back. It's obviously more budget friendly to buy the extensions rather than new sensors ($40 for two extensions vs. $114 for two new sensors; I went new because mine are 11 years old/70k miles).

As for the rear O2 simulators... I just did a quick search here and it appears as though you 5th gen guys don't really have a true simulator like we had/have for the 4th gens. Here's a thread that will help you with what you can do, though: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277384

A copule guys in the V8 thread said that the headers might have an extender on them such that I woudln't need an extender. I sent a message off to the vendor asking that and a text off to denny as he has these on this car. So we'll find out in a bit if I need front extenders or if I'll be alright.

As for the back ones, I figure I'll just get a box tune from THR since i'm not going beyond bolton for a little while and just want to clear off any CELs that might happen. So no need to fool the sensors.

I'd be surprised if there isn't a step-by-step thread on here about installing long tubes, but here's an article from GMHTP: http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...s/viewall.html

If you're considering doing a "can" tune, you may want to check out Frost: http://www.tunedbyfrost.com/

I'd put money on him having more experience tuning LS engines than Tom Henry.

That's also great that your 5th gen header kits may come with pretty much everything. Good idea to inquire with the company!

Denny says I need them, but they should be included in the package from stainless works.

Ah, if you're going with stainless works, then you might be alright with the bolts they send as well. It also looks like there is a provision for the rear O2 sensors based on the picture of the system on the SW website -- so I'm assuming they send four extensions then?

I have installed SLP long tube headers and complete SLP exhaust on my SS. It was not hard at all other than one of the 02 sensors that was stuck in the pipe. I got it out but ruined it and of course it was the more expensive one. SLP included the extensions for the 02 sensors. Only problem was I didn't have the pipes straight and the hit the cross over pipe and rattled. I bought the headers at Grabiaks Chevy and they fixed the problem for me.

I then had the car tuned by a local mechanic in Scottdale, Pa. I put on a CAI system along with the exhaust and now have 477 hp at the crank and 411 hp at the wheels.

Bryan is THR.

Any other respectable tuners I should consider? I'm looking for just a can tune. No need for a dyno for just a header install.

I though Bryan was PCM for less? He can tune it without a dyno and it will be cheaper that a cam tune. Not to mention way better.

So THR farms it out? That makes more sense. The way "they" hype their stuff I simply presumed they did everything in-house. However, all one is doing is paying a premium just to have your warranty "saved." That is, presuming they charge more than $150 for just a basic tune without putting it on the dyno/hitting the street.

Think about this, though, Brendan: Consider how often you drive your car, the way you drive it, and what you would ultimately like to do. Do you think you'd actually need to have warranty work? Even if something went wrong, it would likely be something you wanted to upgrade anyway. There's no better justification to the Mrs. for upgrades than when something breaks -- it goes from "I want it" to "I need it"

I've been talking to jay, think I have a guy who will do a better job for the same price. So gonna go with him.

As for warranty, I keep it more for things like if the HUD dies or if a window stops working or if my radio dies. Stupid things you shouldn't HAVE to worry about, but do. Ya know?

Those things would be covered regardless of if you had a tune or not.

Right. It's just the question of cashing the extended warranty in.

Doesnt a can tune void the warranty also? I may be wrong but i dont think a can tune will get rid of the cel.

I use a mechanic close to Scottdale, Pa. He has a mustang dyno. His name is John Sandzimer. This was can tune. He ran it on the dyno and tweaked almost all he could. He told me to bring it back again and he may be able to get more out of it. Scottdale is past Greensburg coming form Pittsburgh. 10 miles off the new stanton exit.

Swacer. I am not sure what a can tune will or will not do but if the CEl comes on and stays on that would drive me crazy. The guy I use is not cheap I think 350 375 for the tune but it is done right when he is done with it. But it done on the dyno and he has all of the latest electronics he needs to do the tune. The only person that he could not help was guy who has a new challenger. It seems that Chrysler has locked the ECU and you cannot get into it.

You mean things that have absolutely nothing to do with performance?
