I assume all orders are on hold still? Found an open allocation at 3000 but I guess I must get in line and wait!

They are from what I was told but the feeling that I gat from GM is they will be starting up soon and production will stop April 10th who knows.
I just wanted to clarify that my salesman at my dealership was very helpful in this process its GM Canada that I am not happy with.
Anyways it is was it is and at the end of the day it's just a car and I hope everyone gets there car and I'm sure they will be great and I can't wait to see one on the road in my travels.......

Just got off the phone with Chevy customer service... He said the ZL1's are already out and retail sold and on the road... I laughed so hard! Lol

Let's not forget that the current QC hold on the ZL1 is standard operating procedure. Forty five years ago, when new model and trim level QC holds occurred, customers were usually not aware that there even was such a QC hold in effect on a vehicle, and customers were generally not able to custom order new vehicles until the day that the vehicles were officially released and dealer ordered spec vehicles were sitting on showroom floors.

If everyone were to behave as if the expected amount of information available for up coming new vehicles was the same as it was in 1967, there'd be nowhere near the level of anxiety that some are exhibiting these days. Now, let's just sit back and wait for the ZL1s to arrive this Spring and for that new Beatles album to be released in early June, and I think we'll find that "a splendid time is guaranteed for all."

You could say the same about every aspect of our lives, in all reality why should this be any different ?

While I might believe that the QC hold is SOP, I do not believe that suspending production was part of the "plan". A problem was found in the early cars or test vehicles and GM did the prudent thing and stopped replicating a problem. I support those actions 100%, but it doesn't make me feel any better about the uncertainty of me gettting my car for summer.

The fact of the matter is that it isn't 1967 and organizations of all types have to deal with the new reality of intantaneous information getting to the masses. I've been running manufacturing plants for the last 20 years and we handle situations like this with as much transparency as possible because we know that is what our customers have come to expect. In the past, we would have taken much different approach and said very little about any issues that came up with a product, but that doesn't cut it any longer.

Yeah. but its not 1967. People aren't expecting any more than they should in this age of technology and information.

People behave as if it were 2012 because its 2012.

Manufacturers, if they are not aware of this, are not paying attention.

I don't see how what happened in 1967 or 1969 has anything to do with today's market. People keep bringing this up like as if we are spoiled brats or something for wanting more than was normal in the 60's. people expect a ton more than what was normal in the 60's and rightly so.
There is nothing that is the same as the 60's in todays market, so its a moot point.

It is true that these days there is much information overload, both in the amount and the speed of available information, with respect to many areas of our lives. Although certain areas are probably more different today from 1967 than others are. For example, the process of buying a couch or a refrigerator today is probably not nearly as different from how it was 1967 as much as the order tracking of a new vehicle is.

Regardless, there are many who would probably be better served if they were able to put down the smart phone and step away from the computer a little more often, However, we appear to be living in a society where instant gratification has become the norm, and, therefore, I don't see patience and forbearance making big comebacks anytime soon.

Guys this is common practice for Corvette's. Why is this causing so much angst?

My 06 Coupe was held 14 days at BG before it was released to the NCM for my delivery. There were at least 60 other vette's all on hold at the same time.

This is nothing new with GM.

Some do, appear to me, to be acting with a lack of appropriate patience.

Actually, there are many things that are the same in today's markets as they were in the 1960s. However, the amount of raw information available is certainly one thing that is different.

What would you have GM do at this point regarding the ZL1?

I don't think it's unreasonable for us to expect an update on a problem that is obviously big enough to halt production of such an anticipated vehicle. an update on the hold
