So did anyone move back up? I am back down at 3000 for the FIFTH time.

These are the kinds of posts that the Chevy guys should be clarifying just what the marketing communication means please?

Will everyone who has a 2012 allocation be produced in 2012? Does this mean that ZL1 production has stopped also, or just new orders?

I am sorry, but all the well meaning "civilian" interpretations are worthless. Yes someone is going to be right in their interpretation, but there are a bunch of us out here with real skin in the game that would greatly appreciate a real answer from an "in the know" source please?.

We are trying to manage all kinds os aspects of this other than just wanting perma-grin asap. Personally, I am in nesting phase, redoing the entire garage for the new baby. But some have vehicles to sell, funding to acquire, as well as concerns if we need to heat the garage this season or not, etc.

Let us know the deal please?

waiting...

I never saw this email sent to my dealership, but I can tell you that our first ordered car for a customer has been listed at 4200 (Bayed) for almost a month. The girl I talked to at the shipping center last week said the car just moved to 'quality control' on Weds. and that they had no estimated shipping date and she would call me next Tues. (tomorrow/today) to let me know of any status changes. So they've gotta be close to rollin' out I would think?

I enjoyed reading your post and would like to say if I worked for GM you would be the first to know probably because I was raised to care and out people before me... Anyways I took the letter as no new orders being accepted so not sure as to why you moved back but alot have been looking that way... GM has bad communication problems I have noticed but this is also my first ordered car so I don't know if others are the same but yea... I NEVER knew when mine would be picked up or built it just happend all in a day... Told everything by dealer annoy happened... But in your case it's not predicable and all I can say is wait and the longer the wait the more money down... Yes waiting sux ass!!! But atleast you can prep longer and make sure your good to go with everything... Personally being at 2000 or above I couldn't complain ONLY because a lot of dealers have lied about their allocations to take your deposit in HOPES to get one soon... Good luck man and I pray you move fast ad get your car ASAP! (:

Yeah, I'm still at 3000 as well, guess they're still working out the kinks. It sucks that the plant is gonna shut down AGAIN later this month, for us that haven't been built, might have to wait til after that...

It is now Tuesday. Does anyone know if the factory is running again this week producing ZL1s? We all saw the memo that the DOSP has been postponed to a TBD start time, but what about production? I am not seeing new VINs every day, so I presume the plant is not building, does anyone know?

I am still at 3000 as well. No movement today. Looks like we all sit tight and let GM work through whatever it is they are dealing with. No big deal. It is still on 3/6.

I haven't noticed any postings of advancements in order status, or VIN numbers attributed to this week so far. Therefore, I am leaning on the assumption that the ZL1 assembly line did NOT start up on Monday, and that it has been delayed along with the DOSP, and the QC release of staged vehicles for delivery to the dealers.

Let’s hope that GM gets the bugs worked out and goes gung-ho on the production, and makes up for most of this lost time!!

I would think the VINs we have seen today were on the line before the shutdown and finished this week. I have not heard of any status changes yet this week.

My ZL1 status went from 3400 on 2/22/12 to B400 on 3/6/12. All the events happened in one day. I did get a VIN, # 473. Production order QBDDDN. So I think production must have started back up...Now more waiting........

Production is ramping up again after last weeks planned shutdown for maint.
As of yesterday I have personally seen 27 ZL1 order progress from 3400 to 4b00 status and have their Vin#'s assigned. Hylton spoke with a friend that works on the line and it was reported directly to him that Zl1's are being built without restrictions of any kind today Wednesday. It is unfortunate that such a wild rumor regarding production was being stopped on the Zl1 this week. I totally understand as I have seen news articles from many sites reporting the same. But it is completely wrong. Everything is ramping back up to normal levels. Next rumor involves the software being the issue for QC holds. I say BS to that one too. Everything the ZL1 is going thru is exactly what every other new model rollout goes thru. When the ducks are in a row and all the fit and finish tollerances checked and verified these cars will be released and find their way to their new homes. All is good. Everything is worth the wait. And as soon as your car is in your garage you wont even remember any of this...Larry

they are retrofitting all ZL1's with tweaked LS9's to blow away any hope of the rustang getting close the the ZL1 in performance.

Hey guys, I found this pics and was wondering if they were part of that "Quality Assessment" GM is doing at the moment. Like testing the paint of the ZL1 against rust and corrosion. The temps seems to be pretty low w/ all that snow.

I hope those arent final production ZL1. The black ZL1 even showed some kind of rust on the paint. I mean, this is a $55-60K car. If they're indeed final production vehicles, I can guess you can never say your car (or my car) has never been in the rain/snow.

Dirty hood w/ little rust

Man thats a great and mean looking car none the less! I want one! More now that it proved to have supercar performance

How long does "ramping up" take to go to max numbers produced? Someone had posted a while back that after kinks were worked out, u guys could produce about 200 a day...

How are all the cars sitting in the lot getting QC by just sitting there? Looks to me that none have moved or had any QC on them, so I don't see how they have any thing to do with QC.

The only thing I could understand is if GM is waiting till the test cars have all done their test cycle, reviewed the data, made recommendations, and passed or found some issues to address.
If there are issues, then all these cars will have to undergo repairs before shipping, and since it looks as if no repairs have taken place, then I would say it will be quite some time yet before any cars leave the lot.
I would have to say that the later built cars will reach dealerships well before the original batches just like in 2009...

I'm not sure where you see any rust. All I see is dirt and grime left over from the elements. The ZL1 hood is aluminum, and aluminum does not rust, nor does carbon fiber, or paint without iron. Rust is iron oxide that forms on iron or steel.
