I do something good and rewarded with a dent

I puiled up to the ATM and I'm presented with a message...more time or card return. Obviously someone left their card in there. The car was long gone that was there. I push card return and get their card out. I do my transaction hoping they'll come back. I drive around the building and wait a bit looking to see if they're coming back. I go ahead and pull into the lane to put their card in the night box so the bank can return it. This is where my reward happens. I'm getting back in the car and the wind pulls my door and it hits the building. My reward was a dented door end. I have no idea what it'll cost to fix but I am hating it!!! /sighs

Yea that sucks , as they say no good deed goes unpunished . ..... On another note you definitely need body work and in order to match the color correctly you have to blend the quarter panel . I would say a good quality job will run you about $400 to $450 ....Good luck ....

Tell me about it, about a year ago i was giving away my Dvd player and surround sound to my step dad, loading it in the car, i lift it up and it scratches deep into my bumper by my trunk, left a huge gouge there, i felt sick..

Sorry to see this. but you need to put the events in perspective...............Hopefully you won't read in the media tommorrow about someone who was kidnapped and is still missing while using the ATM at your bank and the authorities know from the electronic records that the card was left behind in the machine. Dents can be fixed...............or lived with.

Yeah, that's not good. I applaude your honesty though. I don't think most people would return the card.
On a side note, this is why I always try to park away from other people. Imagine all the new door dings in a populated parking lot that happens on a windy day.

Yea , seems like that's the way things go for the most part .... The proper way to do that job is to detrim the door ( take off handle , belt molding , mirror ) . Then body work and primer on the door . Remove taillight , drop rear bumper cover and remove the quarter glass in order to blend the quarter panel .

It's a bigger job than most people think , even for a small dent like that . I run a body shop for a living . If you were in Florida I would help you out but at least you know what to ask the shop . The way I explained is the only proper way to fix your beautiful ride .

Dont worry , something good is coming your way .....Peace ......

I wouldn't have got the door dent if I wasn't turning in the card. :( Hopefully there's good karma stored up.

It's karma, you obviously did something bad in a previous life.

But seriously, many, many people die helping someone change a flat tire on the interstate. Be thankful it was an ATM card and not a flat.

I've had the wind catch my door and swing it open, too. Luckily just a tiny paint chip for me. I feel your pain, though. You did the right thing turning the card in.

Look at it this way , a blessing in disguise , maybe seeing that dent delayed you enough to miss someone running a red light , and putting you in the emergency room.
