Insurance for your MODS

Hey I was brain storming about protecting your MODS are there car insurance that offers this?

you can do it through your current insurance. I looked into this, but there's a catch 22. They won't tell you how much it'll raise your premiums until after you tell them your mods.

Yes, it is called Personal property insurance, usually it has a 1000 deductible. covers anything that is not stock. and anything in your vehicle that is stolen if broken into. but you have to be able to provide reciepts.

I have USAA and as long as i keep receipts and pictures, they insure any aftermarket parts for free. Other insurance companies may not be as nice though!

I had to get specialty vehice insuarance which typically will limit your mileage per year otherwise you get raked for mods.

Most insurance companies offer this if you ask. They really won't raise your premium much if at all. What you will need to do though with all of them is cover yourself both with photos and receipts. Also most will not just write you a check for your mods should your car get totaled, they will depreciate them. Its still worth having, better something than nothing.

I was looking into this too and I also have USAA. I asked them how much it would cost to cover these mods and they said that as long as I have pictures to show that I have them or receipts that they will cover it. Of course, when I told them I was modding it, they asked if I took it to the track so I made sure I told them no and it was cosmetic only and the is meant for car shows.

Covering my stripes cost an additional $7.00 per 6 months. I didn't mention performance mods.

State Farm insures all of my mods. If it were to be totaled, it would be replaced as is with mods included.

Whats nice about them is they offer a stated value policy for regular insurance. I'm sure others do too, but I had this on my GN and got what I insured it for, no questions.

That said of course you can't just insure your 1987 Honda Civic for $50k, you do need to be able to prove its value of course.

They just mean your brand new supercharger costs 6k, but with 30,000 miles on it, its not worth 6k anymore, so the depreciate it.

Just like If I wreckend my 4th gen, they wont give me the 22k a 98 camaro cost when it was brand new, theyll give me like 6 grand since thats what its worth, from depreciation over time
