is this true?

hello guys
i have a 2010 camaro ls3 with ported heads and a cam....ect.
i am looking to install an ati crank pulley, i dont wanna get into an argument of the pros and cons about it..what i want to know is they currently offer a 2% under drive and a 12% underdrive when i called a few places they told me that the more mods you have on the car the less of an underdrive you can go because you will not have enough dampener....ive never heard this... is there any truth behind this? i wanted a 25% but one is not offered from ati so im gonna go with the 12% i think...

Never heard of that... hopfully some one can chime in. That truly does not make sence though, so they are saying that the more underdrive from the pully more chances of engine damage from not enough dampening I would not even bother with one if this were true, but I dont think it is.

usually the more underdrive the pulley is the more hp it frees up

thats what i said also...they(ati tech) claim that for a stock motor its fine but when you upgrade you will run out of engine dampining with a underdrive...ive had underdrive on alot of cars in the past and never heard of this cllaim

If I remember right, an Underdrive pulley increases HP on NON Forced Induction engines and an Overdrive Pulley increases HP on a Forced Induction engines.

I'm running a 25% UD pulley with the mods you see in my sig. No problems. In fact I can't tell any difference at all from when it was stock as it pertains to accessory performance. One thing I think can be easily forgotten is that cammed cars tend to idle at 850 rpm or higher versus the 550-600 for stock. So at idle the accessories are still spinning at about the same speed before and after. I've also never heard of the dampener concern before.

I'm not sure. Vengeance private labels it but I think its from Powerbond along with a Gates belt.
