Tampa Hooters night update and suggestions:

Tampa Hooters night update and suggestions:

We had a nice mix of about 15 cars at peek.

I have lunch planned next week with Tampa Hooters general manager. Peter is a great guy that loves cars. He was the original manager I spoke with when we started doing these meets. He coordinated the first 6 months, then was transferred to Hooters in St. Pete.

He was brought back to the Tampa hooters a week ago and even though we never missed a hooters night, the prior manager told Peter we stopped having them. When I called Peter the other night to make sure everything was lined up, he was caught by surprise and didnt have a chance to order the trophies or add additional staff.

So my question to all that have attended, what can hooters do to make it better?

Does the DJ help or hurt.

Do the girls need to be more interactive.

Do we need to have a section for us for eating roped off so they know we are there for the show and receive a discount?

Should they do raffles of Hooter gear during the night.

How do they get the crowd more involved to select the best sounding or most modified?

How do they keep the crowd there?

would older muscle cars hurt or help the event?

Im receptive to passing along any suggestions you have. Just post up in the thread, and Ill log in to show the manager when I have lunch there.
Thanks
Phil

Weekends Phil. Way to hard for for many people to come out on a Wednesday night.

"Does the DJ help or hurt." - It helps.... I'd just like a slightly more diverse music selection.

"Do the girls need to be more interactive." - I'm not sure that's necessary.

"Do we need to have a section for us for eating roped off so they know we are there for the show and receive a discount?" - We receive a discount?! I've gone to several and didn't know that. lol

"Should they do raffles of Hooter gear during the night." - 50/50 and item raffles at "other" restaurant car shows seem to go over like gangbusters! I'm all for it!

"How do they get the crowd more involved to select the best sounding or most modified?" - perhaps an announcement made so that people inside know what's going on outside would be helpful... if they already do that, maybe letting patrons know (as they're being seated) what will be happening later in the evening would be beneficial.

"How do they keep the crowd there?" - Raffles ususally keep people from leaving.

"Would older muscle cars hurt or help the event?" - I've been to a handful of these and I've seen quite a diverse set of vehicles at each, so I didn't think there was a restriction.

This is why I haven't been to the last several... During the week it's extremely difficult for me to make it home after work, help my son with homework, spend a moment or two with the wife, think about cleaning my car, then make the 40-50 minute drive down with any time left to participate.

I have been going to the one on Hillsborough since my work moved to Tampa in 1997, I always go to the calendar autograph day, that is always fun, I met Lynn Austin there in 98. Some of the top calendar girls have come out of that location.

If I leave work and turn right I go to Hooters, if I turn left I go to Winghouse.

I miss them to. I ate at the south Tampa Hooters where we used to have to meets, and the manager that helped build it, and returned to the resturant, but said he was leaving for a better job.

So I dont see returning back to their.

I had lunch at the Tilted Kilt in clearwater, and those girls were smoking hot!

I love the Kilt, I wish we could get something going with the Clearwater location, I had read that the Tampa one had closed, hard to believe, cause the night we had our show there, the place was packed.

Tampa closed becuase it was never packed. This is why they had so many spots available to us right up front on a weekend evening. Never really recovered from the drug scandal they had.

Nothing ever happened in Clearwater because it is the same owners. If you recall several people were upset that TK charged us all an extra gratuity fee as one big group. Many people didn't bother to look at their bill and tipped again.

Lastly the TK ownership was unwilling to give a future discount so that was that.

I see a lot of Camaros in that photo. You would think a place would give a discount to people bringing in that many as a group.

For those of us who live outside of Tampa (i.e. Polk County), could these events be done on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday so we can join in on the fun???

Lets see about a meet near Lakeland or Plant City. Maybe we can coordinate when we come out to Orlando too.

good luck.

I can go down the list of issues you'll have between car clubs, you'll have guys getting sideways out of the parking lot and the manager yelling at you for it, guys bitch about why this guy got a trophy and he didnt, or why the girls picked a "girl" car and not a muscle car. guys just want to brew and a wing. you'll hear guys say how they could do it better, but never offer to help you.
