My cam choice for the LS3

Cam only M6 choice of mine goes to:
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1402&sb=0
Have it cut on a single bolt core and with a 114+4 instead of the 113+4

Looks like a really good cam. Dont do a single bolt though change the timing gear set to a three bolt its added insurance.

I would get the one for the LS3 though due to the can sensor location change from the GenIII.

Does it have good manners down around 1000-1200rpm in 1st and second?

I disagree http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210400 ...I have a 3 bolt in my car, but it just happens to be what my cam is, didn't really particularly matter to me either way, I just made sure I got the right sprocket for it.

The cam sensor provision on an LS1 or "Gen 3" cam makes no difference in a Gen 4 V8. The LS3 and other Gen 4 V8's cam sensor reads the cam sprocket, not the cam itself. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the cams people put in their gen 4 engines have a gen 3 cam sensor pickup on them...mine does...the cam works fine though because the sensor in my timing cover still see's my sprocket, and I run a proper Gen 4 sprocket.

OP, my cam in my car is 226/234 .600/.600 114+4...so very very similar. Obviously the lobe profiles must be different as you're going to have a little more lift with the added degree of duration.

Anyways, my car idles at 775 RPM very nicely, and drives really smoothly in the 1000-1200 RPM areas. I do have a minor surge at 1500-1600 RPM under extremely light load (kinda a pain in the ass when going 30-35 mph) but I'm still working on the tune, and I think I will for the most part be able to mellow that out.

The car hasn't been back to the dyno yet, and I'm still being cautious with my rev limiter set to 6900...the car pulls right up to the limiter HARD, so I think I'll be shifting a little north of that.

Same Cam here... but for an A6 with a stall.

Same characteristics obviously, but my surging is around 15-20 mph at very, very light loads when I roll out of my neighborhood trying to manage volume.

Good rattle/roll at idle.

Yeah, was thinking on having my tuner set the limiter at 7000rpm since I figured it would pull all the way to it. Ive hit my stock limiter a couple of times with the stock cam lol.

I did the same...if I only drove it by feel with the stock cam, I drove it into the rev limiter, especially in third...I guess my reflexes just knew how fast to shift to second and third, but in 3rd and 4th gear, when you can actually begin to feel the power curve, the stock cam pulls right to the stock limiter.

I'm only worried about the bottom end dealing with the RPM a little bit. I've seen way way way less rod bolt problems on the newest Gen 4 engines as compared to the old original Gen 3 engines...my valvetrain should be stable at 7100-7200 RPM, I'm just so happy to be driving the car again, since it sat for almost 4 months this winter.

...I have a set of Katech rod bolts for it...but I don't really want to pull the engine out to change them...and you can't get the oil pan out with the engine in the car.

I agree, I haven't seen an aftermarket 3 bolt cam core that didnt have the cam sensor reluctor on it. If there's no sensor back there to read it, it makes no difference.

My cam is in that range too. It's a eps 226/234 lsa 113. With the eps tune, it's perfect. Plenty of sound and power and drives like stock...very pleased.

I think I'm going with the tsp 225 230 cam. Sounds like a good overall daily driver, and I'll probably get another 100 hp with it.

I have read that a scoop and underdrive pulley is necessary for the full 100, but I could be wrong

Have it cut on a single bolt core and with a 114+4 instead of the 113+4

I have that cam, for a 3 bolt setup.

I'm pulling it out in about a month or less for something bigger.

Has 7K freeway/easy miles if you're interested in it.
