Exhaust choice: Frozen by indecision

There are too many exhaut options out there..

For starters, I have a standard V8 SS convertible..I was looking for a deep, throaty kind of sound..

Also would like cat-back with the plan to eventually get LT headers and possible HF cat..

Thought of borla, corsa, or flowmaster..Just having trouble pulling the trigger.

Were all going to back our choice brand so I say go with Solo Performance. Otherwise I like the Flowmaster Outlaw or for a more pricey exhaust, the Borla Atak.

Solo Performance cat back and you won't have to look back.

Exhausts sound completely different with or without LT headers.

If you can hear the setup you're thinking about in person that would be the best.

IMO if you think you're going to get LTs pretty soon then you should probably look at doing a cheap muffler delete to get you by. Then save your money and get the LT/cat-back combo at the same time. Muffler delete is cheap and worst case if you don't like it you're not out much money. You also don't want to buy a cat-back that sounds okay with OEM headers then to change to LTs and not like the sound.

I say start slow. Like someone else here said, if you can personally hear what you like, go for it. I will add this...........If you know you will definately get long tubes, then wait till you get them. Long tubes (w/cats) on the stock system sounds pretty damn throaty. LT's and no cats gets kinda respy. Second of all, look under you car at the exhaust. Tell me what you see. I think you will see a simple non restrictive 2.5" exhaust system. Dont waste money on a cat back that will look exactly like what you are taking off. If you want to change the sound, simply replace the stock mufflers with what you want. You'll save money and it will sound the same.

SLP loudmouth 1 axle back..

I ride with a lot of camaro's all compliment my SLP exhaust. Deff worth it!! Not to loud but deff the deep throaty sound. And If your wanting it louder. You can always just bolt on a x pipe or even a pair of long tube headers by SLP.

What kind of sound are you looking for? Loud and aggressive? Deep but subtle? High pitched and whiney? I'd look at JBA's competition setup. I've got their axle back and couldn't be happier. Loud, mean and has that "I will eat your children if you don't move" sound. Plus, it's hard to beat the $$$.

We have a nice sticky with TONS of YT vids of exhaust clips. While they aren't always the best in terms of quality, but you'll get the idea.

My personal favorite.

I'm very happy with the exhaust, Chase had been talking me into this exhaust for a while now and I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger.

As you can see, very aggressive tone. Nice and deep, no rasp. If you are listening on computer speakers, please get some headphones so you really hear this exhaust growl.

It's on the loud side for a cat back, but no where near obnoxious. The volume is perfect. Wont wake the neighbors, but will draw some good attention. NO DRONE. I drove the car 2 hours to and from Louisville for this video, and tried to make this kit drone. It wouldn't. Different gears, different speeds, different RPM's and no drone. I know thats a subjective matter, but nothing that even remotely bothered me. I think Stainless Works deserves more credit in the "No drone" discussions.

Install was easy. Product was packaged well, well labeled. Top quality bends and welds. Everything fit well and bolted right up.

Stainless Works staff is top notch. Had the opportunity a couple times to talk to Anthony, what a great guy. Even called him during the install and he was a class act.

Chase and Apex Motorsports are awesome. Fast shipping, great customer service. If you're going to buy this kit, you will not beat the customer service from Apex Motorsports. And I'd have a hard time believing you'll beat thier price either. I got to spend the day with Chase and Paul this weekend, great people!

I love this exhaust! Awesome service and price from Apex Chase, Great tone, no drone. This really is a "best of both worlds" kit. Nasty on the outside, quiet on the inside!

I'm happy to answer any questions...

If you are sensitive to drone, and with a convertible, I would go with Solo w/ j pipes hands down. If you add high flows, it sounds even better, while still controlling drone.

So confusing... I'm going for a throaty sound. Maybe I'll just replace the header/muffler at once..Problem is hearing the combinations, the effect of the recording altering the sound, (hence some people saying to videos, "I have the same set up and it doesn't sound like that!")

Do a set of long tubes first then decide!! The stock catback sounds sick with headers!! Don't waste your money on mufflers just do an X pipe and headers and leave the stock mufflers. Go to YouTube and look up team bad ass it's a black Camaro that runs stock exhaust with headers, it sounds and runs awesome!!

I just put on Flowmaster AMT Catback last week. Perfect sound for me. Low rumble, nice and loud when you step on it. Not much drone. Great product!!

Ditto, my SLP set-up rocks! I have their 1 3/4" LTH's, 3"Xpipe and PowerFlo exhaust instead of the Loud Mouth. The Powerflo has a great high performance sound. Plus you can delete the resonators that are installed about mid-pipe if you want more sound. Here is a vid of my car dyno'd today with the SLP stuff and the resonators deleted...
