Good Luck. I am taking my car in today and will let them perform the 12052 bulletin. I am very worried as my top does not leak and the wind noise was eliminated last week. But the rub marks continue to get worse and now there appears to be threads showing what means a new cover.
I JUST wanted a fun car to drive that I could mod when and how I wanted. The time taken up in research and post and trips to the dealer for the top is just a real PAIN in the A$$. |

Baba, how many miles do you have on your vert? Also, do you cycle the top much and drive with it down?
It looks a lot better than many of ours... what's your secret? |

Voted satisfied. 3000 miles on my 45th vert and the top still looks great. No wrinkles or rub marks. No leaks or wind noise. I am aware of others problems so I am keeping a close eye on it though.

Wow guys I feel soo bad for some of you. The price you pay for a vert. I would expect the quality to be there. Don't worry I'm inthe same boat with my Camaro, she may not be a vert but she's been to the dealer back and forth for a list of problems.
On a positive note, it seems like a very few amount of members have some good looking tops, majority on here are bad and some are just brutal. I hope GM takes care of you guys and gets your great looking, but most importantly durable tops for your camaros. Just a question and please don't flame for this. I could be wrong but I swear on a mustang vert, you cant see the ribs? Maybe I just never paid close attention but the top always seemed smooth and tight to me

I rarely drive her with the top up - usually only in the Winter every few weeks to take her around the block so she runs once in a while to circulate the fluids. She's always parked in the carport and I rarely leave her sitting for any length of time with the top down. As far as putting the tonneau on, it's about split 50/50. I put it on today and, frankly, I'm diggin' the tonneau. Too much of pain though if I'm only running up the street to the store. I haven't treated the top with anything. Strictly water from the hose when I wash her. No secret, really. Just fortunate to have a trouble-free Camaro Convertible top, thus far.

I didn't vote in the poll yet because I just bought my '11 vert (Inferno orange 2SS) a week ago and it only has 2,400 miles on it. It is going in for the "Convertible Top Enhancements" "program(lol)" on Wednesday. I'll get some pics later, but mine looks really good so far, maybe some VERY slight rub marks. Maybe just because the top hasn't been down that much.
One thing I noticed and could use some advice on......when I put the side windows down with the top up, especially just one side window, the back window (along with the whole top in the back) jumps or flops quite a bit. Anyone else notice this? Is this a normal condition? Top seems tight, but I'm afraid if it flops alot I will end up bending or breaking that 5th bow. I know some airflow things with windows down are unavoidable and normal (like putting just 1 back window down in a 4 door pickup and blowing your eardrums out till you crack a front window) but I have no idea if this issue is normal or not. I can say I had a '89 Corvette Convertible and some wrinkles and rub marks were normal, and the back window flopped some with a side window down, but not quite as much as on the new Camaro. One would think the new car would have the issue lessened, not worsened. |

Well, since the old one is gone and the new one only has 120 miles on it so far, I am going satisfied (so far). This could change in a few months though. Here is what the top looks like with the fixes off the line. Mine was produced on 4/4/12.

Wind noise
Quote:
What did you do to eliminate the wind noise? I purchased a 2012 vert 6 weeks ago and there is a terrible wind noise from the 2 rear sides. I am not exagerating but the wind noise is excessively loud when the car is not even moving! It even seems quieter (at least lower pitched) when one of the rear windows is open. I returned it on the 2nd day because of the wind noise and a rear shock that leaked a 4 inch diameter puddle of oil on my driveway the morning after I brought her home. It took a week for the dealer to receive and replace the shock, they told me they found no issue with wind noise - "we have not heard of any convertible issues" "it's a convertible what do you expect" "We could not hear anything" Blah, Blah Blah. I took him for a ride to point out the noise and added that we have had 3 verts in 15 years (Ford, Chrysler and BMW) and they were not much louder than the same coupe. I added that I ride motorcycles and shoot alot so something is not right if it sounds too loud to me. They kept it again and said that they added insulation per a bulletin. I do not notice any improvement to the noise issue at all, if anything it is worse now. In the second week there was a "sloshing" sound coming from near the top of the back seat when backing up or turning. Dropped it off at the dealer for another day they found nothing wrong and said that they heard of some complaints of that noise caused by certain levels of gas in the tank - BS -most auto gas tanks are baffled and this noise has not returned. The car was in a heavy rain the day before and maybe the drain tubes did not function for whatever reason. Maybe it drained sitting overnight at the shop. The top has only been down 3 times and I have not experienced any of the other issues seen on this site, other than the "wave", that comes and goes, and I hope that I do not. I really love the car otherwise and I do have faith that the dealer will correct the noise issue if they know how to. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the site. The fix for the wind noise was two parts. There was caulking added to the rear sides of the top and they also rerouted cables and springs.
Check http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214163 for technical details and to see if your VIN requires these fixes. Sounds to me like it may. |

2010FLHX,
The sloshing sound you are hearing is probably water in the water management bag that has not drained out. This may or may not pose a problem.Check your backseat floor areas to see if wet and keep your eye on it.I thought the water bags were changed in design but you may have the previous"generation" water bag. There is also a current tsb out #12052 customer top satisfaction which they are to install some caulking to help with the wind noise. |

Voted, not satisfied, top started showing signs of the screws through the top.
![]() I did remove them and cut them flush so they don't poke the top any more and glued a small piece of velcro on the back just to be sure. Also as one of the other members stated please check the wire's against your trunk seal! Mine has just a few thousand miles and it is almost cut through. |

I just got mine back from having the new enhancements done.
Not good. Still getting the rub marks, and still getting the headliner "bracket" poking a hole in my top. The tape is not going to eliminate the rub marks. I put a white sav on my top in that area, then ran it down and back up to see what is hitting where. The metal bracket where they put the tape is pinching the top. It's like putting on a pair of boots that is 3 sizes too small, then expecting a pair of socks to fix the problem of your foot being crushed. The headliner bracket that they trim is what is poking the hole in the top between the aforementioned rub marks. Last night I trimmed the bracket on both sides of the headliner all the way up to the bottom screw. Did it being very careful with a dremel. I also removed the front lip from the plastic end of bow 2 (where the dealer is to put a piece of soft velcro, which mine only put on one side) to allow more room for the headliner bracket when the top is down. Tried the top down and up again, and now it just barely touches the top, not going to poke a hole in it, not tight at all. Just barely touches. Tonight I am going to try to move the bottom screw up to almost the top screw, then trim more of the bracket so it won't touch the top at all. Won't be much bracket left though, I worry it won't hold up. It is very sad that GM hasn't redesigned the headliner bracket and the metal top bracket that they put the tape on. I might try to come up with something myself for mounting the headliner right there. I am 100% sure my top won't rub a hole in the near future and after I move the lower screw up and remove more of the plastic I'm sure it never will, but I still might try to make a new plastic headliner mount that better fits, because there isn't much left after all the grinding that is needed for it to clear the top without holing it. Also, I am considering grinding some material off of the metal bracket to keep it from crushing the top but I'm afraid that will weaken that support too much. As a side note, I also had 2 sharp edges that were nearly poking a hole in my headliner when my top is up. They were right above the front side windows on each side, kind of right above your ear if you were sitting in the seat. Dealer did nothing about them. I put the top 1/2 down and inspected. The factory welds in the metal top rail right there had a point on them. I dremeled them off, and now all is fine. I have to touch up paint that when I get time but it fixed that issue. I'll get some pics taken when I get the screw moved and more ground off, but time is tight for me right now. It pisses me off that I have a $44,000 car that I have to work on myself. Love the car other than the top issues. I am also afraid I am getting the bent 5th bow, as there are a couple wrinkles in the top right where it meets the 1/4 area behind the doors. I mentioned and showed this to the dealer but they didn't address it. Maybe this is normal on these cars, I'll have to research pictures of others to see. I hope they don't try to void my top warranty because I did some work myself but they should be fully aware that their fix isn't working and I likely saved them the expense of a new ragtop or 2 on my car. Sorry about the long winded post. |

Has anyone had a problem with the rub marks rubbing through or damaging the threads of the top material? Or is it just the appearance of the rub marks that is bad? Just wondering how extensive I should get with trying to eliminate the pinch point.
I know for a fact my threads were damaged by the headliner mounting bracket, not to a hole, but would have been a hole in the near future if I didn't fix it. The rub marks are from the metal brace crushing the top, completely separate from the headliner bracket even though the headliner bracket pokes the top right in between the rub marks. Although the rub marks aren't pretty, they don't seem to be damaging the top material. Anyone experiencing top material damage from them? |

Very Very Vert-isfied. 7500 miles on my 2012 [bought her last fall] with the milder texas winters the top is down three quarters of the time. Been a wetter spring thank goodness since we need the rain. Good for my garden, bad for my tan. She needs to be cleaned from a recent dandylion storm at work and I have to put a new batch of 303 on her, but here's my top pictures if I can get them to show up.

I have a 2011 and can't really say anything about it. Yes some minor things, did get the notice from GM but have not had it in for the enhancement. I also have 73 SL and the top is the same material and not even one rub mark. I marked mostly satisfied. I have had a few verts of differant brands and my worst was a 85 Ford mustang. I think that you have to put up with some things to be a vert owner but not much. Yet to see any issue with the bow either. I feel bad for the peps who have had such bad issue's. Again I love this car and I think GM has come a long way from a few short years ago. They know people will be sticklers and tried to cover all angles.

I Will Try To Take And Post Picks of My Top This Weeking. I Have Had My Car Just About A Year. I Put O Coat Of 303 on Top When I First Got Car, Had Back To Dealer A Couple Months Back For Noise In Rear Glass Area. Then Had Top Enhancement Done About A month Ago. I Am Going To Apply Another Treatment Of 303 Soon. But Have Been Lucky With No Top Problems. The Car Is Not A Daily Driver,It Stays In Garage,Covered Up. I Have About 6000 Miles On Car. About 60 Percent Top Down. Mainly With Out Cover In Place.
