Is a Ported Throttle body worth it????

I have a Camaro SS 6spd manual. I'm looking at several engine/performance mods. The basic upgrade I will do is headers and performance exhaust (with a cam too). I have a CAI intake and will put in the ADM air scoop. Everything will be tied together with a custom tune. Would putting in a ported throttle body make the car that much better? Its a fairly cheap mod, and it will add some HP.......so why not

For throttle response, yes. HP gains are very minimal if any. I have the Powder Pro TB and its powder coated not painted. They did great work.

I will find out at the end of the month. Going to do back to back testing on my LS3/M6 on the dyno and then again at the end of next month on another dyno.

For a true comparison, consider doing before and after on the same dyno. Using a different dyno may give you different numbers even without changing anything on the car. They are not all calibrated the same.

I have the VMax and the apex intake scoop... these two mods probably don't add much if anything but they can't hurt. Supposedly both help with throttle response.

For what you pay for it, you get a minimal gain in HP but I definitely noticed the increase throttle response which was very nice Get one!

I noticed no change with mine, but kept it because I had it painted to match the car.

Best bet is to on the same dyno, same day do 3 runs with the stock TB, then swap in the ported (VMax is far different than hand ported) TB and do 3 runs to average both.

I noticed a smoother throttle response and what I perceive as quicker power delivery. Doubt there is a power increase or at least not enough to feel.

I thought thats what I said.

"I will find out at the end of the month. Going to do back to back testing on my LS3/M6 on the dyno and then again at the end of next month on another dyno."

Meaning at the end of the month(the 31st) Im going to do back to back testing on my LS3/M6 on the dyno(a Dynocom) and then again(another back to back) at the end of next month(the 29th) on another dyno(a Dynojet). So there will be two different dynos on two different days with the same car and the same stock TB tested against the same ported TB.

Well worth it just for the throttle response. I could feel more difference form the VMax than the intake and exhaust.

If your going to ST/Turbo your ride then no. But for NA cars yea throttle response is a LOT better. Get it for how your car will respond not for a HP gain.

I like mine! Good throttle response and a little under hood bling as well. Pardon the dirt in the photo. When I first saw it I thought I has scratched up the paint Thankfully it wiped right off.

I have to say no. I noticed no differance in performance at all with the addition of the VMAX unit. At the time the car had a CAI and hi-flo cats. Every other modification I have done I noticed an improvement.

If the car has other mods and then you add the VMax without a tune you may be exceeding what the tune can adapt to and need a tune to realize the full gains.

On dozens of dyno testing before and after we have always seen gains, and the throttle response is the biggest benefit....but if not happy we offer to buy it back.

I did a same day dyno test. My car was still on the dyno when we made the swap and it made zero HP. This was done at JRE and Ted tried to play with the tune and still gained zero HP. I would have bought it for sure if it made any power but it didn't. I had him remove the TB from my car and left with my OEM TB.

Ted never made the claim that it makes any power, however he did say that people he has sold to told him they felt better throttle response.

I didn't drive the car with the VMax TB so I can not comment on anything other than back to back dyno pulls.

I saw 10 HP gain In the whole power curve, but 1hp difference in max output.
This was with LT headers and H/F cats, CAI intake+tune.
This was another customers TB. We bolted on the car for 1 run to test, since my car was on the dyno.
I can't wait to order a VMAX TB. got to get a catch can also. Both in matelic blue.

The corvette guys are serious about their mods. You wont see one of these rice mods on an LS7.

And if GM could take 20 mils of the bottom of the throttle body and make the car perform better... don't you think they would do it?
The lost will always blindly thing what they will.

We sell hundreds for the LS7 with some of the best gains of any application to date.
