Don't. Unless you get new tires. The reason it's limited to 118 is because your tires aren't rated for speeds higher than that. They're not safe above that speed. Camaro's with the RS package get perilli tires and their limiter is moved up to 155mph

This. Better tires, then tune.

Only way to do it is an ECU tune but then you lose your powertrain warranty

Almost thought this was going to be about Rick Perry with the governor/texas and all that. Bigger tires. I hear the dealer would take the limiter off if you change diameter. Some nimwad at GM skimped on the rims by 1 inch and it costed us 37 mph more in speed! One thing I didn't know when buying, pisses me off. Like this weather down here!

My SS was supposed to be limited to 155 at the factory. When Anthony did my tune, he said the factory governor was set at 255.

Have since added a VMAX ported TB and Halltech Yellow Jacket CAI. That should put me at 420 RWHP - give or take a few.

Back when folks were killing brain cells huffing glue, I was huffing 327s with 6-71s and having more fun than the glue guys.

Diameter isn't the issue.....you can buy Z rated tires for the 18 inch rims but they are expensive. Also, haven't heard of any dealer resetting the limiter regardless of the tire change....too many liability issues. A tune will be required and on a V6 it doesn't necessarily void the power chain warranty as long as you have the option to reload the original factory tune.
