L99-LS3 Conversion... Oil Pump?

I have seen on a few different sites that they recommend changing the oil pump to a LS3 oil pump.

Is this necessary?

I am going to be supercharged (if that matters?)

thanks

I believe the l99 oil pump is better than the ls3 pump.

inferno is correct... the documented failures have been LS3 pumps.. I didn't know this until after I bought mine, but it shouldn't be necessary. I believe the the L99 pump actually pumps more oil than the melling high volume because of the VVT.

I've heard TSP mention if you are going to do anything, just get a ported pump, but again.. not necessary.

Most of the failures were on 2010 models and usually the earlier production numbers. Did not make a difference if L99 or LS3 from what I understand.

The pump was supposedly corrected in late 2010 and 2011 productions.

Note: I have an early 2010 which is why I changed mine. Just to be cautious/
