Well, there are already more ZL1 clones out there than there are ZL1s (see the photos forum). This includes the side skirts, so there has to be a GM Part Number for them. Blacking out the grill area is easy enough, and the mirrors should be doable as well. Getting ZL1 brakes to fit should be easy considering it's the ZL1 wheel/tire package. Really wish there was a box-check option for it, though. As long as they keep offering the black hood, splitter, and dual-mode ZL1 exhaust with blacked out ZL1 decklid spoiler, it should be easy enough to replicate the SEMA car.

I think that setup looks better than the actual ZL1.

I'm pretty certain that the 1LE splitter is the same as the Camaro Dusk

Will the 1LE have the same traction control as an SS or something more like the PTM on a ZL1?

I wonder what colors are going to be offered for this car with the matte hood. It will be interesting to see if black is offered and what it will look like. Might look hot with gloss and matte black next to each other.

My Take

I read through most of the posts in this thread and remain absolutely amazed. One that caught my eye immediately was someone on a Chevy Camaro forum drooling over and prefering a 4 door Hyundai with a 429 HP engine. Strange bedfellows!

Secondly, the article says the 1LE ran a sub 3 minute VIR lap which puts it at least 2.9 seconds quicker than the Ford Boss 302 LS....that is according to the lap times of Car and Driver's "Lightning Lap" records. See:

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...to-2012-page-8

I remember watching a video of a Boss 302 LS and a current Camaro SS running a lap at VIR and at the end of a very long straight, the Camaro was only a few car lengths behind. With the 1LE suspension, I'm guessing the Camaro should put an A$$ whoopin' on the Boss 302.

Something else that is conspicuously absent from this thread is any comment from the Mustang fanboys....that alone should tell you something!!!

Too bad I just bought a 2012 1SS...I'd consider the 1LE in a heartbeat (of America)!

I wouldn't worry too much, I was pretty sure it was a typo since the press release stated they were the 4 piston calipers but in red instead of the standard gray.

Any word on why the same size tire on different wheel widths? I am hoping that different colors will be offered for the wheels as well as a wrap delete option for the hood.

I believe that was a pre 2012 camaro though. The 2012 had some suspension improvements already with the FE4 over the FE3 on past camaros. I wonder how much better a 2012 would have done against the Boss. The 1LE should take it step further.

Is the 1LE going to be a almost $7,000 option?
Chevy says the MSRP for a 1SS 1LE is going to be under $40,000.
A 1SS is $32,220.( didn't see if that included shipping).

Isit going to be $39,995 Or in the $37-38k range? Which would make the package in the $5k range.

The base price of the car will probably go up $500 - $1000. The car will NOT cost less than $39,000. If it did, they would have announced it that way. Figure the 1LE option to list for $5,500 - $6,000.

Okay. That makes sense. Gotta figure the tires and forged wheels are a big expense.

Because the 1LE is a track oriented vehicle. Therefore, having 4 tires that are the same size all around would be advantageous, instead of a staggered set of tires.

the wheels must be different sizes because of the the offset requirements of the Camaro, but to make things easier at the track, they were able to make all 4 tires the same size.

Huh? So are you saying that the ZR1, Z06, Grand Sport and ZL1 aren't good track cars? What about Indy cars and Le Mans series cars?

I think it has more to do with the car and marketing. The 1LE doesn't have enough power to require larger tires. Using the standard ZL1 wheels and smaller rear tires keep the price down. If they had made a new set of rear wheels, or used larger rear tires, they probably wouldn't have been able to keep the price point below $40,000. It also saves the buyer some money. If you mod the car, all you need to buy is a set of 305 tires. The new tires will fit perfectly and you don't need new wheels. seems like a win - win to me.
