My HUD died today

So on my way home from work, for some reason I noticed my HUD looked strange. It seemed brighter and almost a different shade of blue. I didn't pay too much attention to it until about 10 minutes later it shut off. I believe I smelled electrical burning too, but I may have also been paranoid. I tried turning it off and back on, pressing the buttons and got nothing. Once I got home I turned the car off and back on, and still nothing. Next I checked the fuses, but I don't believe there is one specifically for the HUD. I checked the fuses named things like "display" and "radio", basically anything I thought would be related to the HUD. I didn't find any issues. Finally I let it sit for a couple hours and went out to try it again and still nothing. I am bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. Has anyone else had an issue like this or know if there is a fuse for the HUD? Everything else works fine including the gauges, radio, power outlets, and everything on the center console.

Isn't it still under warranty?

It is, which is why I'm bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else heard of the HUD just dying or has had something similar happen.

I did, I hit all the buttons about 10 times. Played with the dimmer, off and on, page button and up/down. No luck.

Only thing I've heard that's bad for the Hud is moisture...either from wiping it down with a wet cloth, or accidentally getting it wet from washing or rain or heavy condensation...

Probably just a bad unit. No worries. Warranty

I would not be supprised if they have to remove the Windshield and the entire dash to get to it. I know they had to remove my windshield and dash just to get to the heater core when it went bad. I hope it doesn't have to happen this way to fix your HUD...

I agree this is a first, even the guys that installed it themselves have not complained or had any problems.

Dropped it off and the dealer looked at it quick, but couldn't find anything obvious. Said they will have to keep to for a bit and probably replace the unit. But they do have to pull apart the dash to get at it. Got a GMC pickup for a rental for a few days. I'll post back once I know what they found.

Got the car back today. Apparently it was just a bad unit. First hud issue I've heard of though. They did have to pull the dash, but everything looks good now.

Mine has been at the dealer since Monday 3/4/13
It got real dim in the upper right corner could no longer see the right turn indicator in it. Mine is a 2011 and I have had it for 2 years
They are also replacing the head unit. Hope I don't have any rattles
