how often is safe for polishing?

I have a PC and use the adams goodies. Assuming "normal" amount of polishing (one slow pass each direction with both SHR and FMP) how often is TOO often?

Is it too much to do it twice a year? Will I run out of clear coat? Should this only be done when absolutely required?

It all depends on the condition of your paint. If it needs it do it. But once you polish it and do paint correction and you use proper technique to hand wash and dry your car you shouldn't need to do it but maybe once a year.

You only need to polish as often as the paint requires it... with good wash habits and paint care its reasonable to only have to do correction a few times a year. If you do really well often times it won't take anything more than FMP and the white pad to clear up any minor stuff.

The 'material' removed from that fine of a polishing step is so small that it would take tons of passes to ever be at a point of concern for 'too much polishing'

So basically once or twice a year is nothing to sweat over, especially if I skip the SHR
