I used to hate that front license plate, too

Today I committed the cardinal sin of running my Camaro through one of those semi-automated drive through carwashes. They were running it like an assembly line, cars back-to-back. Due to the 2 inch thick layer of foam descended on my windshield, I was left in the dark (literally) when I heard shouts of "OH GOD STOP IT, TURN IT OFF" and felt shifting and heard bumping. I thought these were normal carwash noises (minus the shouting of course). Once it occurred to me to use the wipers, I saw that the SUV in front of me had spazzed and cut the wheel, nearly up on two wheels since it had jumped the tracks. The conveyor system dutifully drew my Camaro up for a liaison with said SUV. Once composure had been restored, damages were assessed at one nick to my license plate frame (I bought it used from a 2-plate state) and mean faces between me and the other driver. So yeah, front license frames aren't that bad. PS: GO ROAD WARRIORS!

What was the other driver pissed about, their own stupidity? Sounds like yet a other reason not to go through a car wash though. Glad you fared OK.

.....still hate the front plate because it is fugly but you should learn to hate automatic carwashes even more and avoid problems like this, scratched wheel, and 10million swirl marks.

When they are busy I just ignore the direction of the guy running the place till there is a gap. Just wave & nod and check your phone or something. Or play w/ the radio. I've had too many close calls w/ people who don't know when to leave and just sit there.

Thing is, you didn't even do anything wrong. Sure maybe the machine wash isn't the best idea, but were it not for a stupid SUV driver, you wouldn't have a problem!

You do realize that the sand, dirt, grease and whatever else was wiped off that SUV in front of you was being drug all over your car by those same brushes? NEVER take a car you care about through an automated car wash! Hand wash only!

Hahaha, my pops used to make me do that all the time. Needless to say, the smell of paint and I are familiar friends.

Went through one the other day with wife's car, lady in front of me went in about 2 minutes before me (plenty of time to exit other end). I come through the brushes and foam and hit the wipers (for fun) and there she is with her REVERSE LIGHTS ON in the middle of the car wash!!!! I lay on the horn and she suddenly takes off and flies out. I think she didn't get enough foam

My assumption is that his other car is a mustang and he knows that when he sees a Camaro grille in the rearview, he'd best get out of the way.

Thanks, Doc. Let me know when the plane lands. I'll have the bucket filled with soapy water for when you arrive.

I don't think touch less washes are so bad. No brushes. Around here the only auto washes are that way and they're rarely the track kind. Theyre mostly laser washes that have a unit that moves around you as you are parked inside. Great for rinsing off salt in winter.

My god do we have to roast the guy for the car wash? It's not your car. Unless you're gonna wash it for him or pay for his detailing, kindly let it be.

OP, I'm glad your car survived the little mishap unharmed.
