Halo dimming/color issue from factory halos

Greetings fellow C5 friends,

I am hoping someone has an idea how to fix/adjust the factory halos. I have an issue with one of my halos on my 10 2SS/RS. One halo is dim and almost green in color while the other still looks like normal white/blue hue.

I took the frontend apart and removed the headlight assembly. First I took the access panel off of the bottom of the assembly to inspect the internals of the assembly. While I had the access panel off, I unplugged the LED harness (a small 2 wire clip) and put 12 volts directly to the LED (I have a small LED control box that is battery powered that I check my LEDs with). When I do this, the LED lights up like a 5k white LED.

After this check, I went to the vehicle harness plug for the headlight assembly and checked the voltage coming to the plug, it was at 12.1 volts. Just to be sure, I checked the other side for the same thing, which also was 12.1 volts. So I concluded the issue is not in the vehicle's harness.

I also plugged the "bad" headlight assembly into the opposite side to see if there was any change. There was not.

So I started inspecting the inside of the assembly and noticed the circuit board that the halo LED gets its power from, so I am suspecting that my issue now lies in that circuit board, as voltage is good to the plug of the assembly, and the led works when power is applied directly to the LED.

I added a picture. The only thing that is aggravating with pictures is it only shows that the right halo is dimmer that the right, but it isn't showing the color difference.

With all of that, has anyone gone through this and how did they fix it, without going aftermarket? I like the look of the factory halos and that is what I would like to keep. Can this be fixed through a warranty claim?

Please help!!! Thanks in advance.

Should be covered by bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I have the same problem on my drivers side, dealer looked at it and ordered a new light, when it comes it I return, it is covered under warranty and I was told if the new one is brighter than the passenger side (flipping the issue to the other side) they will also replace that one.

Since this problem is on your 2010, warranty is probably gone. I suggest posting in the want ad section and see if anyone has there LED and circuit board left laying around after they installed the JDP or Night Owl halo kit. I'd send you mine, but I don't remember where I tossed them after the install. Might want to PM 2SSRS too. He might have a few laying around.

Thanks I'll look into that. Maybe I'll see if they can swing a deal with my 13....

Since you mentioned it, if you got a JDP or Night Owl halo kit on your 13, you could take the LED and circuit board and install them on your 10.

So I have to put out a big thank you to 2SSRS!!!! I decided that the dealership was taking too long to figure out whether they were going to warranty replace my headlights due to the Halos dimming/green in color/losing brightness.

None the less 2SSRS came to the rescue and sent me a couple of the circuit boards for the Halos..... and perfection. Kind of sucked that I did all the work to separate the lens from the housing without putting in RGBs or something, but I like the look of the factory halos..... for now..... It is all back together and looks great. I don't need a stinking stealership to fix my car, I will do it myself!!!

Aw man. You didn't have to open the headlights up. Good job on getting them fixed though.

How is that? If there is another way to get the circuit board out, I'm all ears.

Same way the JDP and Night Owl kits install. A little tricky, but you can get to the screws and separate the halo ring just enough to get the board replaced. Remove the ballest and bulb then you can access the screws.

I have this issue on my newly acquired 2010 SS/RS. It's either the LED or the board, but the passenger side is definitely dimmer than the drivers.

I'm happy to take headlight apart if I have to, but does anyone have a link to the parts I would need? Either the board or the LED itself. Cheers.

EDIT: Might give these a go. https://nfcperformance.com/collectio...=1315146498071
