Question for those with 1 pc driveshaft..

Does heatshield have to be removed or is there enough room to keep it in place?

I kept mine on. Just make sure it doesn't rub your driveshaft when you install it !!

Supposedly it works with CF but not the AL one. I'll let you know. I've installed a CF one and left the shield. I'm installing my AL one next weekend.

I'm going to leave it if I can.

I have the 3.5" aluminum and kept the heatshield that protects the fuel tanks but the one up front near the tranny we removed, no issues since that one was to keep the heat off the OEM carrier bearing of the 2 piece shaft.

That's good to know. Am thinking that retaining shield will deflect some heat away from aluminum DS... which will minimize heat transfer to CV and U-joints... which is a good thing.

Damn. Forgot about this!

No need to remove heat shield with the AL shaft.

I deleted the pics off my phone but I got the shaft in and the heat shield in place. There is at least 1/2 clearance on mine.

Damn, what a nice mod! No more clunky clunk.

Another question for one-piece shaft owners: Did it reduce or eliminate the infamous driveline "clunk" or rattle? I'm willing to spend a grand or so if it does eliminate the noise. Otherwise, I'll have to go one step at a time with pinion backlash adjustment, then drive shaft, then clutch, then transmission. If a one-piece shaft solves it I can still do the other stuff later.
