The color on my screen is a bit off but from what it looks like those are pretty amazing gains for such a simple mod! Awesome!

lol yeah, lighter line is ported TB pull and darker line is stock pull.
Bone stock LS3 M6 Pontiac G8 GXP.
If a TB port can pick up through the stock intake and exhaust I know it will on a bolt on car.

Very true. Although I ported this one any properly ported TB will give gains on the dyno and on the street.

Not trying to pee in your Cheerios, but I let my car cool down for 15 minutes (about the time it takes to swap a TB) and got the same results.

Maybe its just me not knowing how to read a dyno sheet, but I don't know that I could say the PTB made this increase when you probably had the car sit and cool down. To me, I couldn't say those numbers are definitive based on the PTB. Maybe if there was like a 15 to 20 difference, then yes.

Temps were kept consistent, why would you do it other wise? It wouldnt be an accurate test if they were not.

I wish we could do a test on an engine dyno in a controlled environment to see what the results would be ported against non ported...not trying to call bs b/c your results def showed a gain but this is the only sheet I've seen on this and no offense to anybody's "butt dyno" but I'd rather see actual results like you have shown other than just saying "my car feels faster".....thanks for posting

Repeatability on a REALLY good ENGINE dyno would be no better than 1%, most ive bought time on were more than 1%, which would be about 4 or 5 hp variance even at the 1%, pull to pull, on an engine of this output. A chassis dyno is not as accurate, alot more variables. But this particular test on the throttle body could maybe be clarified by some A-B-A testing.

They already did. A built 500 hp motor made 3hp/3tq on an engine dyno. Stock motors will do a little less.

Thanx Bill, I believe I done some Dart cylinder heads for ya.

Driving the car around its very noticeable right off idle on the porting, very responsive compared to stock.

you don't buy a ported throttle body for gains in hp/ft-lbs, you buy it for throttle response... the fact its giving 5+whp is great, lol...

besides, its a $160 mod, not exactly a bank breaker... when you mod a car, don't look at what ONE mod does.. for example, a CAI is just about always going to be less than 20whp, most of the time around 10whp... however, you do a ported TB, a CAI, and high flow cats... suddenly, its a NICE gain..

or do headers, a ported TB, and a Cai for an even better gain..

i'll have all 3 in the next few weeks, going to do headers, the CAI, and the TB all at the same time

A ported TB is an easy mod to swap out and a confidence builder for a beginner. Ive had many through the years be a little nervous swapping a TB out and wind up later doing a cam swap later on by themselves.
I gained a ton with the Rotpfab CAI, the dyno owner and I agreed that a small portion of the gains was the ported TB already being there and now being able to breath lol.

By the pictures Bo has posted, it appears he is leaving a good textured surface of the throat & the blade whice will produce power gains...but I have seen to many hand ported that wrecked the TB as far as any power gains so I would not agree that anyone can port one and see similar. I'm giving him credit though and will do another round of testing w/the VMax on a base car to show results.

I have tested so many highly polished units and allthough most showed off idle throttle response improvements, very few showed any gains at all.

Good work Bo.

Sorry Im posting late but just got everything scanned in, late on the dyno and running behind by like an hour lol. I was rushed since I was planning on leaving around the time I got on the dyno so take it as you will.
OK, my scheduled time on the dyno day was at 4:30 got on the dyno and made the
first pull at 5:24:11 and made 357.40hp/367.46tq bone stock
Second pull 5:28:22 and made 358.40hp/368.86tq bone stock
Swapped the TBs out
Third pull at 5:37:42 and made 363.45hp/372.04tq bone stock with just the ported TB
Fourth pull 5:38:52 and made 361.13hp/368.26tq bone stock with just the ported TB
I overlayed 1st and 3rd/2nd and 4th:

Good documentation! Only variable I see helping add power is that the afr is leaned out some on the ported tb pulls which could help the power up top where it seems all the gains are.
