ZL1 Getting Warranty ?

My dealer just called said the positive battery cable is rubbing against the bottom pulley. They have to redorder a new cable.

There were many new hiccups with the camaro when it first came out. This should be no different. Look back to 2009 and see some of the posts. My ss had the clamp rubbing a hole thru a cable. No big deal. Be happy yours is close to coming home.

That stinks! Hopefully it won't be long to get the replacement...

My car is due any day, #300. Hope it does not have same issue. Did you find it or did the dealer find it on receipt of the car?

It happens all the time in manufacturing. As much as we wan't everything to be 100 % correct it will never happen due to the fact the nobody is perfect.

You should see some of the "new" equipment I receive.... It's crazy how jacked up some of it is.

That sucks. When are you bringing her home? How did the dealership find the issue? Are they driving it?

Good questions. Hopefully they found the issue visually while at idle during the PDI.

There will be a thread asking everyone,"How many miles were on your ZL1 when you took delivery of your car?"

I work in manufacturing myself, and no matter what, theres always going to be some stuff that slips through. Its not always possible to catch everything. Thats why they put a warranty on it. Matter of fact, we make the brembo brake rotors for the SS.

I completely agree, GM held these cars for weeks because of some QC issue, as many eyes as have been over this car and as long as they've had them to look over, how in the world did the car get through with an issue like that? The good news is it should be a really easy fix so it's nothing to be too concerned about, it does sort of make you wonder what these guys have been doing for the past couple weeks.

Battery Cable was a recall issue back when the 2010's first came out. Good thing they caught this one early and I'm quite sure they will be checking others.

Thanks for posting so the ones shipped can be aware to look... some dealers might not be as thorough as yours...

Not sure on the ZL1 but on the SS the battery cable winds around the top of the oil pan and is a nightmare to remove and/or re-install.

Yup they will probably need to strip everything off the front of the motor pulleys +...

I pulled my own motor in my SS a couple times and the big unbendable, unflexible battery cable was always a royal pain in the a**!

That sucks, but at least they caught it before you got it.
It's still crappy. Odds seem slim that this only happened on yours though.
The positive is a bad deal. Hope these all get caught before any sparks fly!!!
