#12052: Customer Satisfaction - Convertible Top Enhancements - (Apr 2, 2012)

GM has released a repair for Certain 2011-2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro vehicles, equipped with a convertible top, may have a condition in which the headliner corner support bracket may contact or tear the convertible top when the top is in down position, and may have wind noise at the front and/or rear quarter glass.
This is strictly in the interest of customer satisfaction and does not cover every car since the current ones being built are not affected. It has an expiration date of April 30 2014.
Contact your servicing dealer with your VIN # and they can check an see if your convertible is one of the covered units.
If you are in the Phoenix area you may e-mail me at randrade@vtaig.com your vin and I will run it for you.
I work @ Midway Chevrolet off the I-17 and Bell.

Rick @ Midway Chevrolet service department & Performance Center.

Top does not come off, takes the technician an hour to perform. Allow 2 to 3 hours for your dealer to complete.

The tape isn't acting as a shim, its acting as a cushion.

The dealer didn't really discuss the actual pcs themselves, just said there is a parts kit for it

I'm at the dealership right now for an oil change. My '12 vert, built last September, is covered for the top enhancement. Even though the top has no rub marks, I'm going to go ahead and have the enhancement done while I'm here. I'll let you know how it goes.

Correction

Dealers are to modify the corner support bracket to eliminate the possibility of a tear in the convertible top, and install wind-proofing material and adjust a tension spring to eliminate the wind noise.

There's parts needed to perform the enhancement and the dealer didn't have the parts in stock since the bulletin just came out Tuesday. They expect to get them in the next week or two so I have to reschedule an appt.

Not all was lost. I did get an Elite catch can installed along with the oil change.

Just made an appointment for Monday..................if the weather cooperates.
Been putting this off until a final fix was provided but it looks as if this is it. Hopefully get it done before the season gets in full swing, I would hate to lose any good weather time.

I meant that those are my EXACT fixes that GM later copied and made their official fixes.
