Good News - 2013

Got a phone call from my dealer this morning and was given the great news that the allocation they had for my car has been pushed out to 2013.
Not a surprise as I was already expecting something like this was going to happen.
For those still waiting, my suggestion is to stop hoping for a 2012 and just settle with yourselves that 2013 will be our year.

Just thought I'd share the news, I'm sure other folks should be getting notified, If you aren't, might be a good time to ask a few hundred questions to get the answer you need.

On a good note, dealer gave me back my deposit and not going to require one for the 2013.

Sweet! I hope you're dealer is right!!! I'd like a 2012, but I'd be happy with a 2013 as well. Thanks for the post!

We should be able to get the MY that is ordered. If this was going to be a problem, the car should have been postponed until the 2013 MY.

You shouldn't be, the Camaro Team listened and gave several upgrades & options for 2013.

Bro, I've been waiting for this car for 6 years. I sold both my camaro's and my harley so I could get a 2012 ZL1. I ordered on November 3 and really wanted to have my car for this summer! If I'm moved to a '13 (which I don't care for the nav anyway) Who knows when it will arrive. I live in Central NY, The summers are over by September. Now do you see my reasoning?

Everytime I spoke to my dealer he said you are definitly getting a 2012 ZL1. This is right from the managers mouth, face to face.

I heard that any of us at event code 1100 -2030 would not be getting the 2012 even though our dealers had an allocation.

Just called my dealer and left him a message to call me back. Kinda difficult to drive and see him when he is 5 hours away from me. Hopefully
I'll know more in the next few days. Torn now between the 2012 and 2013
but I would like to have this car by June 1st .

According the memo from GM, posted elswhere on this sit, those of us at 1100 and 2030 aren't going to know for sure for at least another week.

I'd be pissed waiting through another long winter.

Yup another week or so, but seeing every one getting thier ZL1's is making things more difficult to wait now. :bangdesk:

Getting a 2013 ZL1 instead of a 2012 ZL1 might not be such a bad thing. A good example of the benefit of waiting for the second model year of a vehicle is the difference between the 1968 and 1969 Corvettes. Understand that I'm not implying that the 2012 ZL1 will have issues as the 1968 Corvette did.

The 1968 Corvette was originally scheduled to be released as 1967 model, but it was nowhere near ready in the Fall of 1966 for release as a 1967 model. The 1968 Corvette was eventually released in the Fall of 1967 before it truly was ready for production, but Chevrolet succumbed to pressure and released it regardless. There were many details that were issues with the 1968 Corvette, such as the general fit and finish, and the door latch mechanism, and the windshield wiper cover mechanism, and the 1968 Corvette has not been able to shake its reputation as a vehicle with quality issues to this day.

Most, if not all, of the issues with the 1968 Corvette were resolved with the 1969 Corvette, and as a result the 1969 models are better vehicles than 1968 models are, and today 1969 Corvettes are more sought after, and bring a higher premium, than 1968 Corvettes.

Waiting for the second model year of a vehicle is not always a bad thing.

Yep, lol. It's too nice outside now to not have the ZL1 here.

Sorry, I didn't post this to make folks upset, wasn't the intent. I posted it because I'm glad I know what to expect now and don't have to keep hoping something will pull thru for a 2012.
My sales manager has been honest with setting expectations and that's all I want and ask for.
Is it possible to get a 2013 delivered in July? If not, why not?

My dealer already has 2013 Malibu's so why couldn't we see 2013's delivered in July if orders are taken in June?

Thanks for the post!

I believe orders will be taken for 2013 before June and production will begin in early to mid June, so I'd agree, 2013's could be delivered by July.

The first consensus order submission for the 2013 model year is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 2012, and 2013 model year production is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 11, 2012. Therefore, it would appear possible that a late July 2012 delivery of a 2013 ZL1 could occur.

So this is great news for those of us that have to wait a few more months. It's possible for us to get a 2013 six months before 2012 is even over.
I like this option better than getting a 2012.

And don't forget we get the 2013 goodies 7' touch screen radio and nav option. So not so bad in my opinion.
