Don't let your battery go dead.

I ran into a problem with a coworkers 2011 1lt but im guessing it will be with all Gen5 Camaros. He had installed an amp and a couple subs. He installed it wrong and caused the battery to go dead. With the dead battery he could not unlock his doors with his remote or the key. He had to jack his car up to get access to his alternator to get battery cables on to get enough power to get his doors unlocked and get and access to get his battery charged. Just thought i would share this problem.

Open door with key, pop hood, charge from jumps points insided the engine bay. Seems pretty easy to me.

Hopefully the co-worker never gets a convertible. If he ever locks himself out with the top down, and it starts to rain, he'll be screwed.

I unlocked mine when the battery wasnt even connected sounds like someone did not realize there is a key hole in the drivers side door handle.

Don't really want to rub it in too much, but this is too funny.

A word of advice. Don't ever buy an old car. The concepts of priming the carb or no power steering will never sink in.

Made no sense to me either but once he got a charge to his battery he was able to open it using the key hole in the drivers side door. i dont know why this would happen either but it did.

I don't think the readers were aware, while reading this thread, that you did try to open the door with the key hole and still couldn't get it opened. This is why everyone was clowning you.

lol...I've opened my door with the key and the battery disconnected. Someone is not captain obvious. To shut the door you need the battery becuase the window won't go down. Open though...c'mon man. Mustangs are the same.

I'm sorry. I may have been a bit harsh. The door will open with the key even when there is no power. Its just a bit hard on the window trim with the indexing windows.

This is really funny; not that he couldn't open it with the key, thats just strange. What is funny is picturing him slidding under the car with a set of jumper cables. Fords driving by must have been laughing their 'you know what's' off.

this just happened to me yesterday. the battery died...I do know there is a flip open key in the fob...tried to use the key in the door lock..the doors would not unlock...tried about a dozen times..called the dealer service department and they confirmed that if the battery died you can not open the doors with the remote or manually. I ended up calling Onstar, they told me if the battery was dead for more than 24 hours they couldnt unlock the doors...but since it had recently died, they were able to unlock the doors....SO, the original poster wasnt incompetent...this does actually happen

He said he removed the door handles and just leaves his windows down and then acts the Dukes Of Hazard. I guess that is why he needs the battery to work so he can put his windows down.
