Painting intake manifold but need some help!

So i was painting my intake manifold last night and it started to drizzle a little bit during the color coats. When I noticed what the spots were I took it inside so it could dry overnight with the plan being to wetsand the spots where some rain landed and then do 1-2 more coats of color and then clear.

Does that sound ok? Will that work to remove the water drops and be smooth enough to not show through another coat or two of color?

I will be using 400 grit wet sanding paper, should i get lighter grades as well? Will this need some light buffing after wet sanding?
