Auto or manual?

Manual is nice but the autos today are as fast if not faster than you are. Which way are you folks going?

I heard from Scott Settlemyer at the Frederick,Md. Camaro nationals that the automatic is the way to go.

If I was getting a ZL1 I would opt for the auto, but the SS I would opt for a manual because of the engine it comes with.

Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Manual.

I like driving a manual, it makes me feel I am driving the car, not just steering it. I will take my ZL1 to the track, but I am NOT buying it for that. I know the auto is faster in a straight line (0.1 in a 1/4 from a rolling start according to GM), but it was the manual that turned the head-spinning Nurburgring time.

It is a matter of preference or a matter of speed, and I am glad GM gave us the option. When I ordered my Boxster in 1996 as a concept vehicle I ordered the auto. But then the dealer got a manual to test drive, and I could not imagine getting an automatic sports car, so I went with manual. Same opinion for me still.

I know times change, but on this one I am still old school.

I'm actually driving one this weekend because I have one ordered and want to make sure I'll be happy with it. So far it's not near as fun as people say...

I am normally an auto guy, but this time (if the zl1 becomes a reality for me) I'll be getting a manual. I would take the auto in the zl1 in a heartbeat, but I will be trying to keep the cost of this car workable for my budget.

There is something about the way a manual trans ties you to the car and the road that just can't be replaced. In my opinion, the ZL1s (yes, mine included) will probably outstrip the driving skill of all but the best drivers. Performance wise, I would say most drivers would be hard pressed to recognize the slight improvement of one over the other.

Its manual all the way for me strictly for the enjoyment factor.
