ECS supercharger install

I've only had my car for about 4 months. From the time I got it, I knew that I wanted to do work to it. I've read the forums, did my research and after much deliberation and saving, I brought my car to ECS to install their supercharger system with the alky control. I went with an alky control system now rather than later because from my understanding, after installing a methanol system, I would need a good tune anyway for proper functionality. Why not spend the extra money now and save it later. I'm hoping to get my car back Tuesday and be somewhere between 650 and 700rwhp. I'll update when I get the car back.

You in good hands over there at ECS. Time to invest in some tires.

I'm gonna try and wait for those. I know that it's inevitable that I'll replace them, so until then I'm going to drive a little more conservatively. I'm thinking Nitto's or Toyo's. I had the 555's on my last car and they held up pretty well.

No cam right now. I'll believe in doing things once, so eventually when I forge the motor out, I'll get the cam done then. This is still going to be my DD.

Thanks, they are really great down there and Matt took the time to answer all my questions. Took about 30 minutes from the time I dropped off my car to when I left with his Toyota "Beast"

I'll take pics and post up info when I get it back unless someone from ECS does it for me. Either way, numbers will be this week and pics to follow this weekend.

One thing that slightly concerns me is how my top will hold up. I'm sure driving with the top down won't be a problem. If anyone with a FI setup on there vert. has any experience, please chime in. Otherwise, I'll let you know of my own.

update:

SNAFU!! I went to pick up my car yesterday. Everything from what I was told made me really happy. However, I went to take my car, got on the road, and BAM, my car jumped into "limp" mode. I brought my car back, and Doug pulled the code, reset my ECU and reloaded the tune file. This was something that has never been encountered. Got back on the road and it happened again. Apparently, I got the luck of the draw and have a bad ECU. It is what it is. There's no one to blame and I'm not coming down on anyone. Like I said, it's the luck of the draw. Matt is being gracious enough to pull the ECU from his car to put it in mine since mine is shot.

I have to hand it to these guys there. I'm an impatient SOB and I've been emailing Matt ever since I dropped my car off last week. They have been very composed and very tolerant of me. Being impatient is one of my flaws and they have been working with me to accommodate me and make me happy. I couldn't ask for anything more. They need more guys like them to be working all over the place. They are even making sure that the car will run right after the ECU swap.

Before I picked up my car, I was given numbers which I'm sure most everyone is curious about. So, with a base tune, alky control system, 92mm throttle body, and NO other mods, they were able to get me to 641rwhp/605rwtq. To me, that's impressive and I can't wait to see the full potential of my car.

Thanks to the guys at ECS for working with me!!

Wow nice numbers. I'm really thinking about going with the ECS kit but i got to admit the more i research it the more I back off a bit just due to the "what if something goes wrong" thought. It's my daily driver and last thing I need is a blown motor.

If you go FI, it's a risk no matter what. When I bought everything, I told them that this was going to be my daily driver. I was assured that everything would be fine. They even put a rev limiter on it as well without me asking to make sure that I don't go over max psi. With the alky kit, they put in a fail safe. So if something goes wrong, power will be cut until the problem is fixed OR I refill the methanol tank.

I made it home!! Went back down and picked up my car today. What a drive home. I drive conservatively, but when I got on the gas, the car took off like a bat out of hell. Not that my car wasn't quick before, but now it's even better. I couldn't ask for anything more, until it's time to forge the engine. Thanks to all the guys at ECS for their help. While I was there, before taking the car home, Doug took it on one more test drive. Don't know what he heard or felt, but it ended up causing him to have the air filter. I would have never known otherwise if he didn't have them change it out. So if anyone is ever thinking of getting ANYTHING done at ECS or purchasing from them, they are top notch and extremely friendly. Retail, in general, needs more guys like them. They take the time to make sure things are done their way, the right way. After all, it's their name and reputation on their products.

Keep things conservative and you have very high odds of being just fine. Keep in mind that we SC several cars per week and many are DD's.

Good speaking with you today, and I'm glad all is well again.

Just an FYI for those reading, it turns out that having a Diablo Sport tune written over with EFI live caused a glitch in the ECM that threw a code for "internal ECM fault" which I have not personally seen before.
We reflashed the ECM with a fresh GM file, and reinstalled the performance tune to remove any glitches between to the two software companies and proper order was restored in the universe. (computers....) Both are good software companies, something just didnt want to cooperate between the two.

Thanks again for your business Chris, we greatly appreciate it!!

There's nothing wrong with making high HP cars, family cars. It just gets us to the grocery store faster, that's all. Kids love that sort of thing.

The one thing I forgot to do before bringing my car down to you guys was to unmarry the diablosport from my car. So that's my own fault. At least we got through it. I was starting to think that you wanted me to keep the hot rod. I'm glad I found you guys in my own backyard. Now I know that I can bring my car to you for all my performance needs. You're guys are my heros.

By the way. I asked Matt to find a good home for the intake that was on there. I thought that giving it away to someone, might be a good way to get someone started in there own mods. Let me know how that turns out.

Thanks, I haven't brought it to it's full potential yet. I'm slowly getting into it. I guess I'm a little on the cautious side.
