Help - What is going on here!?

Opened my car door this past weekend and noticed this. Have never seen it before, and have no idea what could have caused it - especially on both sides! It looks as though the plastic has melted or something, but I can't imagine what would have done this. Thoughts?

Apologize for the unwieldy image sizes...

That looks like a short circuit to me.
Creating heat and melting the plastic??
Take it to the dealership, hopefully still under warranty.
Good luck.

Looks like something hot (either a short as previously noted) or something laid on top. Or a chemical/solvent?

Have you recently tinted your windows? Looks like someone may have went a little low with the heat gun.

What they said above. It looks like the heat came from above, but a short in the wiring underneath would definitely create enough heat.

Do you think it has anything to do w/ the lambo style doors.

The wiring issue is the most logical answer but you have lambo doors??? I bet your waranty won't cover this kind of mod.

Doesn't matter; the dealer could easily refuse to honor the warranty since you had to mess with the wiring to do the Lambo doors. Hope your dealer likes you!

Have you left any 'mirrored' sunglasses lying around in the interior of your car?

Hot sunlight can reflect off of the mirrored portion of the lens - and that's enough to 'melt' plastic.

(We had a similar issue with Monte Carlos in the '80s - someone would take one or both of the T-tops off and put 'em in the backseat --rather than in the trunk - and sure enough, we'd find 'melted' panels....esp. the panel between the t-tops......)

No smokers - only purple in my car is Lupe's custom trim

The only thing I can think of is that there is some sort of electrical issue underneath, but I can't imagine why it would have just reared it's ugly head right now...

Someone has been eating hot cheetos and not licking all their fingers completely clean before operating the window button. Frito Lay should cover the repair.
