Cool Old school help requested

Hey all,

I have been making my '11 SS/RS "mine" and removed the gold bowties, but I feel like it needs some Chevy love. I am thinking of putting these '67 flag emblems under the CAMARO lettering on each side.

http://www.camarocentral.com/1967_VE...r_p/emb-41.htm

I never was fortunate enough to own an old school musclecar. Is this a correct emblem to put on an SS of the period? I think it would look sharp on the fifth gen lines and the IBM color of my ride.

Haters, if you're going to hate, please just go to another thread. Everyone's ride is their own.

Thanks,

Jason

Half the point of the C5 is styling. If you find unique ways to set it off and make it yours, go for it!

Just clarify whether or not those emblems are for Corvettes or not, they look like Vette emblems. Other than that, they do look great!

Shouldn't be too hard to google for pics of period correct camaro's. Ebay is also a good place to look for period correct emblems. Not saying you should by originals but you can at least see what they look like.

I think Chevrolet missed the boat by not putting SS emblems on the side. Its an easy fix and looks like it belongs there. I used the slightly larger Trailblazer emblems, and I think it gives the SS a finished touch...

No those are the flags they put on the older camaros only for a couple of years. Some members have added them to their cars in the same spot you are looking to and they look really good. I am too in the process of doing that. If i believe correctly they have pins attached on the opposite side that just need to be cut off.

I kept the red SS front and rear and added a red, silver, and black "6.2L L99" badge on the left trunklid, so I wanted to focus more on brand at that point, but I do think a little more on the side works.

Thanks!

Thanks. Any idea on whose thread? The search ends up being very wide for this.

Yep those are 67-68 Camaro fenders flags. They look nice on the 5 gen because they are not real big and overpowering. Go for it, will be a nice touch.

Thanks. I tried that but couldn't tell enough from the pics. I was hoping some old school die hards could share their Yoda wisdom.

I'm doing some old school stuff to my car too. Got the Hurst shifter with the white "pool ball" shifter knob. Exploring options for houndstooth interior. It's red with white rally stripes..........fun to do this for sure!

I was thinking of doing the same but the old school GM period cars had the v-flag emblem and the cubic displacement right above as shown in an earlier post. Like 283, 327, 350, 396 BUT not 376 as our 6.2's are currently cubed.

So I found these and was thinking of going that route:

http://www.thirdshiftstudios.com/heritage-flags.html

I really like the modern take on the v-flag and the actual displacement. I like the red, white and blue filler as well. Has anyone done this one yet? Any pictures?

Yes, those are the correct emblems. As shown in the pictures below. If you really want to go nostalgic, put a SS emblem in the middle of a Heritage grille.

Macfolk, go for it. 67 V badges are a nice, affordable addition that add just right touch. I don't have any closeups of mine (got 'em from Ricks Camaro) but they sure add to the over-all look.

Good luck!

Neither my 67 vert or 68 coupe had the emblems. But neither were an SS model.

Those emblems were only on 1967 V8 Camaros with small blocks. 396 engine cars had different ones.

The link that "Camarodriver" has provided is a really good choice. The cross-flags with "376" coincides with 6.2L engine displacement. Old school meets new school. These are not cheap, however, they do look sharp.

Because the 376 flags aren't cheap, I doubt a lot of people will buy them. And that is a good thing.

Those look perfect, but I can't go $150 when I could just go $30. Too bad.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions, pics, and kind comments. I will order the '67 ones today.
