SS, L99 a6, lightly modded vs. 5.0 GT, m6 stock
I know the Mustang vs. Camaro thing is all over this but I gotta know for my specific challenge. I have a friend who's a Mustang fanatic as I am with the Camaro. Since I've known him hes had several Mustangs, some GT and some Cobras and one Z06, all heavily modded.
I know most of his modded cars would have smoked me but now he recently bought a new 2011 or 12' Mustang GT, m6, stock and I'd like the challenge. With my mods( in my sig.) on my SS, L99, a6, would I take him? I know its only a small moment of time before he has his suped-up.

Hate to say it, but I think he will take you IF he can drive, you have advantage of not having to worry about shifting though.

Really? So you think the 5.0 is that much quicker stock than the SS. I know the LS3 tops the L99 on the fast list stock but it does have 26hp more. I thought with my mods I'd be surly able to beat the LS3 stock so I figured the same for a the 5.0 even if it's a tenth of a second faster than the LS3. Everyone has a Mustang in my town so if thats the case(me getting beat by one at the track) I better lay low.

I think you have it all day. High 12s is avg. For a stock 5.0 with avg. Driving, you should have mid 12s with your mods. Last time I was at the track there was a stock 5.0 auto running 12.8-9s to my 12.6-7s that day and my only mod was headers. Either way you have a good chance and it will be close.

Not to change the subject OP, but if your buddy wants a set of Ford racing control arms, I have a set for sale for $80. I want em gone.
Back to the subject, I would say that your gonna have a close race but I think he will have you by a slight bit. Those cars really do pull hard. |

It's a driver's race for sure, but you should have the very slight edge.

Your headers and tune give you a small edge over the stock GT.

OP, I think you got him as long as you launch good. If he's got the 3.73 he will have trouble hooking up on stock rubber, if he's got the 3.31s or the 3.55s, I would venture to say he would do a bit better.

I am running a 12.49 in the 1/4 mile with your similar mods. It takes practice time at th track on street tires. Add drag radials and a few suspension mods in the rear and she goes. At a roll my car is pretty strong as well when in manual mode. I have killed many new stock M6 5.0's and even basic modded 5.0's. They are strong with the right mods but most of the time driver's are horrible.

Thanks I was just about to point that out. This is assuming we have an equal jump at the line.

You should be a little faster and since it is an auto you are less likely to to make a driver error. You should be able to take him.

Those are Stainless Works Power 1 and 7/8 Long tube headers. If you look to the end it says Jannetty tune. Right there.

The sp 1 7/8 LT is his headers. Looks like he's running the Jannetty tune.
