Tail light problems

Is there a growing problem with tail light bulb life? I replaced the right last month and now the left is out. I have never replaced so many bulbs in so few miles on any of my other 21 new GM vehicles. I have seen other threads on this in the past.

The GM parts counter nailed me $16.00 to hand me a bulb that they had to order.

$16? ouch! Paid ..maybe $3 for a two pack of bulbs at a local auto parts store. Took all of 2 minutes to install.

Are you touching the bulbs with your fingers? Just wondering because the oil from your fingers will cause some bulbs to blow prematurely.

These are the bulbs installed at Oshawa. Is there a bad batch or a recall?

Mine went out 30 days after buying the car new. Dealer refused to honor warranty. Bought new bulbs at Checker. Been good since. Seems GM buys substandard parts for its cars. And what warranty?

generally a problem found with Halogen bulbs. many ppl are not aware of this, def somethin' to be careful of. i always wear latex gloves when working with lighting just to avoid this problem.

for $16 you could buy some LED bulbs and not have to worry about replacing them for a long while

If I open a file under warranty it will be the only thing done in 34 months of ownership and 18,000 miles. Just concerned that it won't stop with 2 bulbs.

Went to Crappy Tire and found 2 Sylvania 3157 bulbs for 4.99. When I pulled the one from the car it was also Sylvania. Made in the USA.

Looks like GM has learned how to make billions.... they charge $16.00 for a bulb that retails for $2.50.

My far right marker lamp does not work. Brake lights are fine, but when I turn my right signal on, the far right light does not signal and the inner right light does....any ideas? I would think this is not a bulb issue....just happened and did not replace bulbs yet. No message in DIC.

This is what I did. Nothing special about the bulbs. When one goes out you can assume the other will also. One other thing, make sure your hands are oil free before you touch the bulbs. The oil from your skin can create a hotspot on the bulb and cause them to burn out faster.

Please let me know if you would like to schedule an appointment at your local dealership for a diagnosis! I would be happy to assist.

If the issue is found to be a defect in materials or workmanship, the repair would be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty, if your warranty has not expired. Did the dealership inform you of what the diagnosis was?

Bulbs are warrantied??? What about chipped rims? Found a chunk of my aluminum rim missing.....near the center....not from hitting a curb.

Bulb manufacturing is so uniform that when one bulb burns out, you can bet on the other one going within days if not hours.

When I discover a burned out bulb, I replace both sides of the car.

And bulbs do not cost $16 at the auto parts store!!!!!

Who buys bulbs at the dealer anyway?
