GM College Discount Program

I'm 23 and recently married. My wife and I have been working really hard to pay off all of our debts (besides mortgage) in the next 18 months and it has been difficult to convince her that a Camaro is in our best interest! I've been searching for discounts/incentives to drop the price of a 2LT RS and ran across this last night. You must be a college senior or a recent graduate and show proof to your dealer. They have a really great feature that allows you to build and price your vehicle and it will show you what your discount will be.

The discount on my 2LT RS is $964 off MSRP. Every little bit helps!

Hopefully this is not a repost. (I apologize if it is )

The only tough thing would be to find a dealer that would honor the discount. Just because it's out there doesn't mean they have to honor it because it cuts into their bottom line.

Welcome to the site and good job paying off your debt!

Well, I qualify, have my authorization number and the 2010 Camaro qualifies, so I will be taking all my paperwork to try and convince them when I pick up my car. It will save me $1249! I also qualify for the Credit Union discount, but not going to push my luck. Crossing my fingers!

I tried to get it by putting the car in my daughters name, my dealer didnt want to do it. I think the discount comes out of the dealer's profit so it is up to the dealer.

I'm going to roll the dice and give it a try!

I would still go to the site and apply and print out each page as seen on the site (copy and paste onto word as it prints blank from the site), and a copy of your diploma. Can't hurt!

My dealer is going to except my grad discount. I can understand I guess if they just say no, but to lie and try to say there are none on the camaro is just wrong. Go online and build your camaro and have the printout at least they can't lie and say there aren't any discounts on this car. Then see what he says. I hope they take it.

I don't think you actually have to be a senior, just a college student. I'm a junior and I'm enrolled. I haven't actually used it yet, but I registered a few months ago without a problem. Then again, I was planning on getting a new car right after I graduate, so we'll see.

My dealer did not know the program existed. When I pulled out the paperwork with the authorization number he had no problem honoring it. Also, I think the dealer might get reimbursed by GM.

I too am a recent graduate, from UT actually. I noticed you were in Texas, so I figured I'd post up on here too. I just ordered my Camaro today and I was told that the Recent Graduate discount would be applied to my invoice when the car arrives as they need a VIN to compelte the paperwork.

This dealership has a TON of positive feedback on these forums and if you'd like I'd be more than willing to disclose which dealership it was, just PM me. I didn't want to post it up on the forum as I am not sure if they want this to be widely advertised. The dealership is here in Houston though.
