Finance guy will not return my call

I have called my dealer twice asking to speak with finance because that is where I have been told to contact to cash out my warranty. The 1st time I called was last Wednsday, The lady said he would contact me as soon as possible. The 2nd time I called was Monday and asked to speak to the customer service ( the lady who called shortly after I received my Camaro to check and make sure I liked it and if I had any problems). I tell her about calling the 1st time and noone returned my call and my frustration. She tells mee the same thing, that he will return my phone call ASAP. They are great when you are wanting to buy a car. Now that there is no more money to be made off me, they treat me like crap.

I haven't even mentioned it was to cash out the warranty.

Am I being impatient and these guys really are so busy they can't make a phone call? When I go to buy a vehicle, most all the employees are just standing around talking.

So what should I do?

Keep calling. They get pretty busy. I am sure its nothing personal. You will get him eventually. Tell him you called first on XX date and want the pro-rated warranty back to that date. He may go for it.

I have noticed with any banking agency, they take a while to get back to you. My Credit Union is the same way.

Face to face interactions will always get a situation resolved much quicker then a phone convo. People can ignore phone calls, but it is harder to turn the cheek when someone is standing right in front of them

Is it a GMPP warranty? If so, just call them directly.

Not to threadjack OP but I had a question about that. I was offered this extended warranty and if I took it It dropped my interest .5% and lowered my payment by like $4 or something.

Has anyone got into that and then canceled it? Can you cancel it?

Yesdo that!
they said My apr would be 1% lower if I got the warranty. Get it and you have 30 days to cancel. I think their is like a $50 fee but thats nothing when your talking 1000's

Wish I would of thought to do that when I bought it.
Damn dealerships just trying to screw people out of more money

Do what this guy did in Moscow. Its been on all of the news. Just don't do it in a Camaro. This will get your point across for sure.

ANY dealership that tells you that purchasing an extended warranty or any other aftermarket product will lower your interest rate is breaking the law (at least in most states).

It is completely untrue in any case, and I would immediately fire my Finance Manager the second I heard that come out of their mouth.

Interest rate is based ENTIRELY on your credit history, and not any outside product or source.

I call BS on the lower rate thing too. Credit history aside, the warranty may have lowered your rate because you borrowed more money, but not simply because you purchased a warranty. For example, the banks I deal with here in Canada offer a little better rate if you borrow over $25,000, than say $12,500-$25,000. ($7500-$12,500 in turn would also be a little higher rate than $12,500-$25,000). The reason he hasn't returned your call is because he will charged back the profit he made from the sale of the warranty when it is cancelled. In Canada (assuming it is a GM warranty), you can cancel the warranty at any GM dealer. Our cancellation form here has to be signed by the customer and a GM dealer, but any dealer can sign and fax in the form. It is only the originating dealer that would be charged back, so another finance manager at another dealer should not really care. For what its worth, even though I get a discount on parts and labour, I've always put the coverage on my vehicles because I know you don't have to look for trouble when it comes to vehicles; routine maintenance only goes so far (ie you can't change the oil on a sensor, module, relay etc).

They don't care they got the money out of you so now it's on to the next one. I hate when they treat consumers like that. I get it that it's a business, but business is not to be conducted like that.

Leave a message that you want to upgrade your warranty with your tax refund. That should get their attention.
