Last three posts are interesting, never NEVER saw "Brandon" respond so quickly. Timeline is fishy, all I will say.

Added: Except for "Murray", last three posts before that one.....

The first was a 370z with a painted cover that followed the lines of the headrests, the other was a BMW 135 that had a cheaper black plastic cover that looked a bit like the Camaro tonneau. Each worked well and beat the hell out of the manual Camaro cover. I haven't put mine on once since I bought the Camaro, so I hope you've heard something encouraging about an improved cover.

If you really want the tonneau and are concerned about it blowing off, you can run the back seat belts over it and into the trunk. A member suggested that a few months ago and it actually does work.
Our cover blows up when we go 75 mi per hr. We don't use it anymore!

Better keep an eye on the area of the top that most likely touches the trim around the opening on the driver side when the top is down. As the top flops around in the wind it constantly rubs there and could fray the top. Right or not i would use the cover or get it replaced.

On my 3rd top, the one with the frame AND material, the top sits up higher so I can't really put the tonneau cover on. BUT, the fabric has not touched the rear well trim area at all. The previous 2 DID touch it & eventually had HUGE rub marks that had just started becoming holes when they were replaced.

When the convertible top on our 2011 was replaced under the TSB, the Chevy dealership outsourced the repair to an upholstery repair shop. First, the dealership didn't tell us that the vehicle would be driven around town. The car came back with all kinds of damage, including:

* Interior was trashed with dirty footprints and scratches.
* A hole was cut in the headliner.
* Plastic belt moldings were all scratched up (inside & out of both sides).
* The plastic end of bow 2 was lost.
* Weather stripping was left detached/hanging on both sides.
* Tie-down straps weren't routed correctly when headliner was then replaced on the 2nd trip.
* Aluminum rivets were used instead of steel (the service manual has a big bold NOTE that the rivets must be made of steel or stainless steel to prevent galvanic corrosion).

We need to bring it back in to get the belt moldings replaced, headliner tie-downs routed correctly, and to add the missing plastic piece from bow 2.

Should we risk having them remove the whole top cover and headliner again to install the correct rivets? Or just wait until a hole appears again and ask for the correct rivets the next time around?

I hope you all have better luck.

First top ISSUE for me :(

Well I have now got my first top issue, On the passenge side a piece of rubber moulding sticks out when I raise the top. it does not do it on the drivers side.
I contacted Gerry at Rodgers Chevrolet and he said Technical Bulletin PIC5605 addresses that issue. Does anyone know what that Bulletin says?

Thanks

Yup, took it in for that, and they said they fixed it. I'm sure they did what I do, shove it back down between the top and the body of the car.

I've been waiting for a TSB or something before I take it back. Haven't seen one yet myself.

I am taking mine in tomorrow, service bulletin PIC5605 is supposed to address this issue.
It looked like I am getting some wear on the material just in front of that rubber piece in my pic.

Interesting. I'm curious to see what the fix is. It's a piece of rubber weatherstrip that hangs down from the top assembly. It's not very rigid and gets caught on the body of the car.

Knowing these Camaro service techs, they'll probably perform the Abbot & Costello Necktie solution...Bud's is too long, so Lou cuts it off with scissors.

They'll probably use shears and cut it off. No problem.

I took it in and they showed me the Service Bulletin that I refered to. It does point to a problem in that area and how to fix it. I have an Appointment Friday morning to take it back in to have this repair done since i did not have an appointment scheduled for today.
I will let everyone know what happens.
