Received my letter, my top was replaced once back in November/December and I'm scarred that the horrible experience will be repeated! Think I'll wait until they really fix it! I'll live with the wind noise, no rub marks with the new top.

Just got a letter in the mail from Chevrolet in Milwaukee, WI 53209-9989.

Fix / repair good till April 30th 2014. Per Jim Moloney.

As of now just have wind noise in rear corner,NO rub marks, and on rainy days it sounds like water sloushing around in a bag. What is that from ? Vin # ending in B9208287. Bob.

Water sloshing around in a bag is just that. There are water bags part of a water mangement system designed to siphon water off the top and out of the car. Some of these are causing issues. Sloshing sound is normal, so I am told, unless it malfunctions and you end up with water inside the car. Scared me the first time I heard it. Sounded like I was in a boat.

That is really bizarre and it makes me really glad I live in Phoenix. I've had 6 convertibles prior to the Camaro and all the others had tops that sealed up and kept the water out, not something to collect the water that came in. Well, some leaked a few drops here and there around the windows in the constant rain when I lived in Washington, but the tops were designed to seal all the way around. This is a very strange arrangement.

So brengeek...how does the bag drain itself? And where...does it just have a slow drip mechanism to the bottom of the car? Thanks.

Took mine in last Friday for my first oil change. I didn't even mention the recall. The service manger came into the lounge and told me my vin number was listed and he would order the parts to take care of it. I've haven't had a great deal of rubbing on my top, guess I got lucky. Might as well have it taken care to insure it doesn't bite me down the road.

There is a water management system that sits level with the back of the top where it meets the trunk in that area. What happens is the water rolls off of that area and into these little resevoir "bags" and then drains down tubes out of the car. What was happening with the older model verts (11 & first half of 12) is that the bags were not big enough. Also when they'd drain down they act like a bladder and deflate. When they were empty/deflated they'd pinch or close off the drain tubes so that next time the car was exposed to water it'd fill the bag but have nowhere to drain but out into the car. The redesigned ones are larger and are repositioned so that when they deflate they no longer block/pinch the drain tubes.

This upgrade is not a part of the recall. Our old car was determined to have the issues so they ordered the parts. The actual repairs are taking place now that GM owns the car.

Does this make any sense?

I took my 2011 SS Convertible to the GM dealer nearby and instead of getting the recall re-work today I'll be getting a new convertible top sometime late next week. The good news is that the rub marks will be gone from my roof but I don't want to get this improvement in appearance and then get water leaks in my car!

I got a recall in early may about fixing something on the top. Was never told what it was, but I took it in and it was fixed. Now every time I drive there is something shaking in the rear window, where the top is mounted. Sounds like something is loose.

I apologize for the disappointment you are experiencing with this issue. Have you taken your Camaro back the dealership with the concern you are now having? This may be the best thing to do. Please let me know if you have any other concerns via PM.

I fot the 'fix' done last week, enjoying the new whistle when the top is up at highway speeds and perhaps even worse wind noise. Be careful on accepting this "fix" if you don't need it. I also believe they ignored me on the water management system, but since I never take it out in the rain, I don't know if this is a problem. I have one of the first batch of 'verts produced, so I am not confident in this.

Oh yeah, and now there's some rubber cement looking crap just behind where the top connects to the A pillars on the headliner. CLassy.

Well just dropped my Camaro SS off to get a new top. Didnt really want to go this extreme but hole was a good size in roof. Everything has gone smooth so far with the dealer. Just a little worried they couldnt give me a time frame, will keep all posted on time gone and quality of work.

Good luck with the top. Mine is going in for it's second top replacement. Refused the first one, fitted wrong, canvas top anchors torn up underneath, headliner fitted wrong, etc. Waiting now for the phone call that my next top is in. I believe that they once again did not listen to the customer and authorized ONLY the top....and not the mechanism as well. My guess is that it will take a third time to get the whole mechanism and such as it should be the first time....the TSB is a joke. Again, best of luck -- and don't accept anything less than showroom quality - that's what you paid for, and that's what is expected.

Stopped by the dealer today to check on things. Seems the Director of Service is no longer there, my 2nd top replacement is in "limbo" ( I was told 3 weeks ago it was ordered), and the 4 wheels that need to be replaced because of the paint coming off of them (not kidding...). Love this car, but it's getting old. Open invite to ant GM Rep to PM me, I'm looking for some help from GM at this point.

We'll see what the dealer tells me Monday. Not a happy camper right now, the car was dropped off yesterday because the water management system failed and flooded the rear seat/floorboard. Smells really bad, unusable car right now. Every time it goes in for the top it comes back with more issues than the last time.

I got it fixed. It was actually not from the top itself, but something that might have been moved or something whenever they made the install. They just had to tighten something and it was all good. Donīt remember what it was, and right now Iīm just a bit too lazy to get up and find the note.

Had a couple of other issues I wanted fixed though, but they were not fixed. One of them I canīt blame the dealership for. I got a printed explanation saying it was an issue GM was aware of and that it should not be fixed, which to me is an unbelieveable statement.

It is my understanding that tops are back ordered ATM.
