First ZL1 1/4 Mile Numbers.... (best of 12.04)
![]() 2012 ZL1 Camaro with automatic transmission, baseline 1/4 mile dragstrip testing: Run #1: 12.52 @ 116.3 mph with a 2.0 60 ft. More runs to come along with pics and video. Stay tuned. Yes, we do have a set of drag radials and will see what they will do after we get baselines on the stock tires.

Rated at 272 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, Cadillac's turbo mill is rated for more power than the engines found in its German competition. Of course, once you take this engine to a chassis dyno known for vaporizing GM fairy dust as we did, the output of the ATS engine looks identical to that of a BMW engine rated for 32 fewer ponies. |

All the fancy electronic computerized help in the world still can't put power down to grip perfectly. Tires, suspension, balance, driver.
Not that the ZL1 tech isn't world class, but it's still gonna take some driving and in the end it'll take more than stock equipment at the drag strip to maximize the power. |

Nitto 20 inch drag radials: 12.11 @ 116.1 mph with a 1.81 60 ft. time.
This car made 467 rwhp thru the factory auto transmission on our Dynojet dyno a couple of days ago.

567 rwhp? those numbers seem way off or you mis-typed. Is this car stock? My buddies cts-v just laid down 461 on a Mustang dyno with a tune and CAI and that car is running 11.77 @ 119 on street tires. Something does not seem right.

DA was about 1600-1700 above sea level? Corrected to @12.44 at 117 and 12.03 at 116.8 respectivley.

How many miles are on the car. Hope more than the break requirements. Does GM cut the boost back unit the break in mileage has been reached like the GT500s do? Seems like it should be doing better than that.

Could it be that the car needs a bit more break in time for a better run? Just a thought...I'm sure it can do much better.

I am really disappointed in these numbers. With a 2.0 60ft, I don't know if there is much room for improvement. Even if it was a 1.8 on the stock tires, which would be excellent, that's still not enough to knock on the 11s. Hopefully the 2013 GT500 will end up running around 12.1@120 so we can remain competitive. Honestly, I don't have the cash right now to challenge someone to a race at Nuremberg.

Could be track conditions too. The only real way to compare would be to have a GT500 right there with it now. At those times a current model GT500 would run with it.
