Upgrade Brakes?
Has anyone upgraded their brakes? Is it worth the money?

Why would you need to?? I think the Brembos are great!! Then again, my only source of comparison is my SUV's crappy brakes....

Functionality-wise, they're really only needed if you track your car. The factory brembos are more than substantial for this car.

I upgraded the brake rotors to lighter 2-piece (RacingBrake) which took about 6 lbs of unsprung rotational weight off each corner of the car. I also upgraded the brake lines to braided stainless steel which greatly improved the braking feel.
You can see what they look like in my project thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=45165&page=2 Removing unsprung rotational weight is beneficial to improve acceleration, braking and cornering. I track my car so the improved braking was important to me. For the street? Not so important although better braking is always useful no matter what. Depends on your budget and how important upgrading is to you.

I was looking into the Brimbo 6 piston but they are pricey. Anyone change rotors first to a lighter drilled type before replacing calipers?

I can tell you that the standard breaks are not even in the same league as the brembos. If you're looking for great street performance, the brembos are perfect for the job. The only upgrade I would do is get a set of Hawk ceramic pads for the brembos.

That's all I did; I kept the stock SS calipers. I don't competition race so I felt the cost of the 6 pot Brembo upgrade was just too high. Changing the rotors and upgrading the brake lines worked out great for me.
