Nothing Like a Badass Cam!

Had to repost this from my build thread. Absolutely love the sound of this cam. TSP 231/236 - 112LSA. Also did GM performance CNC'd heads. complete SLP LT's with 3" stainless pipe PowerFlo Exhaust, SLP UD pulley, Roto-Fab CAI, etc etc...

When he made the pull, I could've sworn I had an accident. The 231 is probably the best sounding cam on the market. Don't get me wrong, others like the G6 sound mean too, but sound a little sloppy when you get on it. This one sounds perfect at idle and WOT.

Haha, trust me, when I was recording that I literally had adrenalin coursing through my veins. To hear it in person is even better. I can't drive the car anywhere now and I get approached. It's ususally "Damn, is that stock", or "wow your car sounds mean"? So it's back to getting all kinds of attention again. Gotta love Camaro!

Driveability is excellent! The only time I have noticed anything at all is when I come to a rolling, slow stop. It wants to surge a bit. Nothing bad at all though. Other than that, it drives beautifully. 2800 stall converter and all. If I turn the T/C off, it becomes a sled..

Six, I have a question. Do you think a 3200 stall is too high for a setup like this or similar?

There is another guy on here with the screen name of Padre. L99 just like mine and did similar upgrades. He went with a 3200 stall and I think he is very happy with it. He did have a couple issues with it because of its higher stall and I read on the TSP website where i bought my cam that a 2500 or bigger stall converter was recommended with this cam. I read several threads where a 2800 was used with good results so I thought it was a good happy medium between the 2500 and the 3200. I think anymore and you might experience some slight driveability issues.

But to answer your question I don't think a 3200 is too high because others are using it and still drive there cars daily. Hope that helps.

Sounds great I love the sound of a cam brings that true muscle sound to the car. I can sit and just listen to mine for hrs. I have a 3400 stall and it still drves great and this is my first cammed car.

Yeah, I don't know much about Stalls over 3200 so I'm sure it does. I just read a post where a guy is running like 4400 stall and says it's still streetable. So I guess everyone has a preference. I chose mine from a lot of research and advice from my tuner. Seems to have worked out good so far.

Sweet ride btw..

UOTE=S3XPanther;4828844]Six, I have a question. Do you think a 3200 stall is too high for a setup like this or similar?[/QUOTE]

I run a TSP VVT-3 cam it is a little more aggressive than the 231/236 so I run a Yank 3200. I can tell you these auto 6 speeds with a super steep first gear suck up a 3200 converter and drive almost like stock but unleash hell when you hammer it. If I did it again I would most likely go to a 3600.

With that said it is very important to match your stall with your cam so let your cam supplier spec one out. Don't be afraid to run a 3200 or more on a DD if that is what they recommend.
