yeah his car wieghs 1000lbs less so you are correct as long as you factor in used cost of a Z06.

this price also inclueds labor/waranty etc so you could do this yourslef for less that 12k.

brand new base Z06 is going to set you back ~70k. this kit plus base ZL-1 would cost you 68k os it is not as out of line as people make it.

just like most of the poeple with a GT500 that are deep into the 10's have thousands in mods in there cars.

10's are fast and they don't come cheap.

No disrespect to this thread, but when I see a head and camshaft swap on this brand new ZL1 I can only shake my head. Cut to the chase, put a Jet engine on it and call it a ZL1.

The times are impressive and I respect what you are doing but I think the red car (stock engine) is far more impressive then this car. I say ,get the red car back to the track and keep making laps in it. It will go in the tens at over 130.

So all that to pick up 3-4 tenths and 3-4mph? Hardly seems worth it. And your spinning the blower even faster? Hmmmmm.....that's alot more $$$ for not much gain.

Does it have a roll cage? At what point do they ask you to leave because you don't have one?

That depends on the track. if they are cert by NHRA then yes. hell after 13.99 you need a helmet and all these cars are faster then that.

but I know of at least one that will let you run whatever. but they also have a lot of cars blow up on the line.

Look at the slips, the 60' is weak because they are running a DR and not a slick or soft sidewall DOT tire. The red car will run 10.30 @ the posted mph and the yellow may squeek a 9 with its posted mph. Your not going to see huge gains in a boosted app by heads and cam but they managed about 55 rwhp on the yellow one Im guessing.

I the track is NHRA then are standard rules. 13.99 helmet, 13.00 drivshaft hoop, 11.99 or 11.49 steel belhousing (manual) 9.99 auto, 10.99 rollcage, 150mph chute, etc. I think slicks vs street tires have different rules on c-clips and things like that.

If you local track has a website then you can proablaby look it up.

I can't rember them all.

making a mustang fast is just one step cooler than making a civic fast.

Lol. Didn't take much to make the cobra fast. Maybe a better match for his zl1 would be my cts-v. Ill even keep the 3 car seats in the back row. I'm offering a friendly race at a track to someone who said "bring it". Ill even give him as much time as he needs to add some mods.
