ZL! mode shifting
Can you shift from one mode to the other while driving or do you have to be stopped to switch modes?

You can go from drive to sport mode and sport to manual without stoping. If you hold down the plus paddle while in manual mode it will change to S mode

Yes, no different than turning it off or to comp. mode on the SS while driving.

How? On my SS I can go into competition mode when I'm driving down the road, or turn traction control all the way off. It would be stupid to not have that ability.

You can switch on the fly.. Double tap traction control and ptm-2 shows up. Then you press +/ sport for higher or -/touring for lower. Fairly easy. To turn ptm off you just hit the traction control button once.

Any conirmation on this? I have heard you are not supposed to change PTM modes while driving, however, the manual does not say you shouldnt?

I've also read the same thing that you shouldn't switch PTM modes while driving. I have switch between tour and sport while driving though.

Is the PTM mode shifting not recommended due to mechanical or safety reasons? Any one know? Maybe it's a liability issue for GM.

You'd think if it was a problem, GM wouldn't allow it and the owners manual would make mention of it. It says you can switch between sport and touring anytime.

Switching tunes on the fly isn't a problem. We've been doing this in the diesel community for years and use EFI Live with a 5 position switch to change them as needed. As DangerousSS says...if it would cause a problem or GM didn't want it to happen then the tune wouldn't allow you to do it.

From page 9-49 in owners manual:
If a malfunction occurs with the Selective Ride Control system, the appropriate messages will be displayed in the DIC. See Ride Control System Messages on page 5‐40. The setting can be changed at any time. Based on road conditions, steering wheel angle, and the vehicle speed, the system automatically adjusts to provide the best handling while providing a smooth ride. The Tour and Sport modes will feel similar on a smooth road. Select a new setting whenever driving conditions change.
