Interestingly enough they also chose lower profile tires. The simple reason behind this is sidewall flex. When designing the SS ride comfort was particularly a big factor. Money was a big factor as well but I won't go into that here.

So if we want our Camaro to stack up against the ZL1 we need to look at ways to get closer to it. One is to ditch the Pirellis. They're mediocre at best at just about everything a tire is supposed to do. The ZL1 sports Goodyear supercar tires. Decent tire, but we can do better. In comes the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Originally designed for the Bugatti Veyron, this is simply the best tire Michelin has to offer and arguably the best tire available today.

Now we need to choose sizing. The Michelin SS runs a bit wider than most tires on the market. If you look at the sizing chart for this tire it says it can be used on a wheel up to 11.5". We discussed this at length directly with Michelin when we choosing tires for our new Signature Series Camaros. We chose to use a slightly taller rear tire and overall shorter all the way around. Both the ZL1 and GT500 do exactly this. The last thing we did was keep the sizing between 20MM stagger for optimization of handling and understeer.

Hope this gives you some insight into why we recommend these tires.
Thanks for the thorough and insightful reply. Although I still want to rock 315s on the rear, I should take your advice and run Taylor's setup. (I have Forgestars in his same sizes on order, but have not purchased tires). I will definitely consult with you before making any moves!

Trust me when I tell you the 295 is extremely wide looking. Give me a call with any questions!

Thanks. I kinda want a half inch lower though. What do you think? After I get my new bumper and see how low the splitter is then I will decide.

What springs do you have now or coil overs?
What's your height from the floor, through the center of the wheel to the apex of the fender?

I have 1" Eibach springs. I am 5" from the ground to the bottom of splitter on the front and the bottom of the rocker panels on the sides. I was planning on doing a full Hotchkis track setup, but they only have 1" springs.

OP, do you notice if either set is sticking out from the wheel well? I have heard others complain about the 10.5 sticking out about 1/2 an inch.

Honestly, I wouldn't go lower than 1.0" unless you get coil overs.

Nope, my TSWs were 10.5 rears as well. You can even go up to 11". Those people that had fitment problems probably didn't have the correct offsets. Mine are perfect.

We can actually fit an 11.5 wide rear wheel, with the proper offsets. Wheels that do not fit properly were simply ordered from the wrong vendor

Taylor, why not consider a set of coilovers? I know Whiteside will vouch for how great BC Racing's are and they're rather inexpensive. I haven't looked at the price of the track pack, but I don't expect BC coilovers to be much more expensive.

Thanks guys. I love them, the car looks much more racecarish... if thats a word lol.

The reason why I want to do Hotchkis is because most of the guys that I will be autocrossing with have Hotchkis. They are on the H-Team and get to go to exclusive events and stuff. I wish Hotchkis made coilovers. IDK what I am gonna do yet.

So how are you guys handling the 2% inaccuracy in the speedo with the shorter tires. While 2% may not seem like a lot, as the tire wears down this error increases. I am assuming the speedo is based on the rear tire's height, nothing to do with the fronts?

You can tune to fix or honestly it is so small I would just leave it. The difference is so small there is actually more of a difference between worn out tires and new tires. Bald stock Pirellis are actually smaller than the 295/35 20s Taylor is running out back.

This is the best setup I've seen. Perfect tire diameter and width, awesome stance, and the black graphite turned out awesome. Very nice!
