Am I wrong?

Okay, I'm prepared to get flamed, but I'm looking for some honest answers to the questions below:

...but first, some back story.

I currently have 2 Camaros on order because my first order was from a dealer that insisted on charging almost $3000.00 over MSRP. So, I went to ANOTHER dealer close by and put in another order AT MSRP.

Then, I took my paperwork BACK to the first dealer and basically said, "What's up?". He pulled the whole, "I gotta talk to my manager" B.S. and came back and dropped the price to match.

Since BOTH cars on order have a fully refundable deposit ($1000 each), I'm playing the, "Whoever gets me my car first, wins" game. I was up front and honest with both of them and they both know that one of them will have an extra SS on the lot soon (if they aren't first to fill my order).

In the meantime, 2 OTHER dealers in the area have called me and asked me if I want to place orders with them as well. I've explained the ENTIRE situation to them about having 2 other Camaros on order and, to my surprise, they've BOTH agreed to join in in the race to get me my Camaro first.

NOW, I'm feeling BAD after reading the forum for a while and listening to the stories of people ordering MONTHS and MONTHS ago and them getting held up and here I am, with soon having 4 cars on order just to get one.

The question is: Even though the dealers are WILLINGLY participating in the race to be first, am I taking away from anyone else? Does it really matter if I'm only eating up the LOCAL dealer's allocations? Just because I have the money to drop on 4 deposits, doesn't mean that I think I deserve special treatment, I just want a car as much as anyone else. ALL of the dealers have stated that the configuration that I've ordered will EASILY sell to someone else if I don't accept delivery.

That's all I've got... flame away... be gentle.

Dude, these dealers don't WANT to win the race. They need a legit name to put on the car. Then when they get it in and you don't buy it, they mark it up. Hell, if I had no other buyers and I was the dealer, I'd take the chance with at least one.

They know they will be able to sell the car if you back out...they probably have more allotments than customers willing to buy right now, would be my guess. It's hard times out there. Heck, pass their contact info on to me...I'll give them a deposit too! LOL

I have a friend that really would like to buy a camaro right now but is staying away from all this preorder bs until the dust settles. He is seeing first hand how I've been anxiously waiting and doesn't want to deal with all this drama. He's in VA so if you want to pass along the dealer info he might be more inclined to deal with them if they really do have cars coming in.

Isn't this exactly what Fbodfather was talking about?

Sure, you may only be taking ONE car...but now you'll be putting 3 cars in front of other people that preordered. Why? So the dealer can just turn around and sell it for over MSRP.

I understand that you want your car...but imagine if everybody did this!!!

Which part of the state is he in? I have orders in from Fredericksburg, VA to Richmond and as far west as Culpeper, VA. (Staying local)

I can PM you my specs and tell you when any of the others get in if he wanted to check em' out. First one's mine though!

I would of done that also but I am already at 3400 now. I could, pay over sticker, and get a car tommorrow, but it is not the color or model that I want. My dealership is getting a 2SS in for their unveiling tommorrow, they said sure we'll sell you this car and it was $5,000 over MSRP. My car which should be produced this week, or already produced just waiting for the next event code to be checked off, is sticker price and the color and all the specs I want to a tee.

I am slightly angry because this is just 3 more people who will probably get their camaro before me without even ordering. But at the same time I wish I was in your position

Now I know why all the dealers in my area required Non-Refundable deposits.

The preorder system is so screwed up! I ordered in early Feb. and I'm starting to get ticked! I can't even imagine how the others feel that ordered in nov.-dec.! I'm not mad at you. If I knew I could get my ordered pulled now with another dealer I'd do it! I'm sick of this whole situation! I haven't even seen this car in person yet! My dealer said they were suppose to get their dealer car two days ago. NO SHOW!

Maybe the dealers wil change their minds and make it Non-refundable. Then how much over MSRP will you pay?
That's why they're collecting non-refundable deposits here.

In my area all the dealers are also requiring non-refundable deposits. Likely one of the legit reasons for making it non-refundable, along with some BS law about custom ordered cars being non-refundable.

But, I really don't think it's cool to be ordering extra cars only to bog down the system for the rest of us waiting.

i'm not concerned with the 1000.00 non-refundable deposit I paid. I'm buying this car anyway. All the other dealers in the area only required 500.00 which is why I was #2 at Bay Chevrolet and would have been #12 at BEST at any of the others.

Changing their minds would constitute a breach of contract and thus making the initial order invalid. I would then just go order from someone else (assuming all four of them did the same thing at the same time).

Honestly, if my car came in TODAY, I'd seriously consider paying the original $2500 over MSRP to get it NOW. Don't tell my dealer that though. :-P

I don't blame you at all. I also have orders at two dealers.

My story is that I tried placing orders at over 20 dealers in southern california. It was sad that the dealer that we usaully work with would not accept orders unless they were way over MSRP.

I have family that work for GM, so I placed an order on October 13th with a dealer for GMS pricing. I have a signed copy with GMS pricing from order GM Autobook showing the GMS price, and my credit cards deposit slips also states GMS pricing. My deposit to the first dealer was via credit card and fully refundable.

My salesperson quit, and when I called the sales manager for a status update, they told me they would not sell the car at GMS. So, I called wrote several emails and placed some calls and complained. About a week later, the dealer called me back and told me they were being pushed to honor the price by GM from my complaints. But, he told me my order moved from #2 to #17, and not to expect my car before December. The sales manager was an ass to me on the phone, and hung up on me.

I sent another round of emails to GM about the outcome from the first dealer. The first dealer pissed me off, so I found another dealer that would accept GMS, and placed another order. The new dealer was much nicer and had several open allocations, but would only accept a non-refundable deposit via check. I also have an offical order sheet listing the exact GMS price.

I planned to cancel my order with the first dealer, and get my deposit back. But, in the meantime, the General Manager of the first dealer called me back and told me he submitted my order, and apologized for the issues with the sales manager.

So now, I've got two deposits at two dealers, one refundable and one not. At this point, I'm going to buy whichever car comes first and honors the origional price agreement for GMS. I may end up loosing the deposit from the non-refundable one.

Truthfully, I don't trust either dealer. What's happend to people today? We put in deposits. We patiently waited. It shouldn't have to be like this.

Thumbs down IT IS JUST WRONG!

What you and others like you are doing is hurting those who ordered after you and now they wait for their order while you have multiple orders being built. If you would have just ordered one car then 3 other people would have been higher up on the list and would get their car sooner. I hope the dealers you don't buy from get stuck with cars they can't sell for even $0.50 over MSRP!

Also, those other 3 Camaros are in the way of everyone who ordered after you not just at those 3 dealers. This is exactly one of the things Fbodfather talked about in a post last night.

wrong ??

I feel this is a reason for others dealers to get more cars than they can order, think about it, if a dealer has more orders than they was alloyed, then they might get to up their numbers for their dealership, and the they take away from other dealers that may have the same amount of orders they are allowed.

Im from KS, Ordered my black on black 2ss/rs auto, sunroof, polished wheels, from Hamilton lagreca in Hutchnson KS on 2-7-09 Then on 5-4-09 they return my money to me in the mail, so I call them and ask them why and they tell me they are not getting any camaro's. I said bull ---- you guys had 4 allications and I was the 4th one. They continued to tell me that all the camaro's in the state of KS have been cancelled by GM. I called GM and they tell me that my order is still there. Buyers beware of HAMILTON LAGRECA they can not be trusted!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 1-800 number has been trying to help me get my order back, but looks like im going to have to reorder, 3 months waiting down the drain.
