5% lower pulley and GM's warranty?

Hi Guys, my next ZL1 that I'm planing to buy, already has a CAI system, I already ask the dealer an the powertrain warranty is covered 100% by GM with that CAI ( just they did not included it as certified).
Do you think that a 5% lower pulley will Void the powertrain warranty?

It's very simple. If you blow up the engine and they see the pulley on there, they are not going to cover it. So if you have any "engine" problems, take it off before you go in to the dealer.
If you tune it they will check for that if you have a major engine failure. Minor stuff they probably aren't checking the tune. They have to pull the tune and send it to GM to check it only if there is a major failure. They won't do that just because you have a failed O2 sensor or something.

Not planing to tune it. My concern is when I take the car for rutinary services and if they see the lower pulley, could they flag my car's warranty?

If you're worried about the warranty then dont buy a car thats modified and leave it stock.

Here's the bottom line.....and this has been debated a million times, if you mod the engine you are taking a chance the warranty will be voided, period. There is no 100% answer to this since some folks have had good luck with dealers that are cool. If it was me, I would assume the engine will NOT be covered by the warranty. If you assume it will then Murphy's law takes over and you'll definitely pay through the nose if something happens. I might be naive, but you already asked the dealer about the CAI....ask about the pulley? You probably don't want to because you already know the answer.....you always roll the dice when you mod your car.

When there is no failure of anything? Only if they were assholes.

I accidentally clicked the wrong vote. Yes, it will void your warranty. But, the dealer would have to be looking for it to see it. If it is just routine maintenance, like stated above, they would have to be a-holes to flag your car.

Simple solution, don't take it to the dealer for routine service.

My dealer has been very accommodating. No problem with CAI, headers and throttle body. He said if I put in a tune he couldn't guarantee. Like others have said, no clear answer. Some will even allow a tune and if there is a failure, they would determine if the mod could have caused it. I doubt there are many that accommodating. Have a conversation with your service manager.

Nothing can "void" your warranty. However, GM can certainly deny your claim for warranty service for the problem you are experiencing if they think your mods may have caused it.

You can still receive warranty service for all other aspects of the vehicle.

Thumbs up

Yesterday that I pick up my car at my local Chevy dealer. I asked my service consultant if there was any risk of losing my warranty if I ever installed a CAI and a lower pulley and his answer was very clearly " no you will not lose it unless you change the stock tune ". Very interesting!

The very reason we offer our No tune 50 and 75 RWHP packages.
