I'm lost; No VIN...early order...what do I do?

Hey, I've been a member for a little while but I ordered October 15th, got what my dealer is telling me is a welcome packet in February. It came with the letter thanking me for Camaro and the picture of the artist's rendering with the order number on it. Here is my question, I went to my dealer today and they weren't able to tell me much of anything really on my car other than its ordered. I read somewhere that the order number had something to do with it all...can someone help me out? I wanna have a hint of when I may see something?

I ordered 10/16/08 1SS ABM Standard shift, roof, etc.....Still at 3400 since beginning of April.....If you get any kind of answer, PLEASE let me know. I was at my dealer yesterday, too, and nothing new. I called the 800# and they say it is scheduled for production. I am going nuts waiting......I went to the unveiling yesterday to see one that was ordered a month after mine!!!!

Your dealer should be able to give you your order number...he can look up your event code to give you an idea of where you are at...


as long as it is ordered...just be patient...

Sorry, ya'll that 866# is useless. They put you on hold and make you think they are getting some info. and then they come back on the line to tell you that you are still scheduled for production and they cannot give you a date or a vin. I have been calling it for about a month now.......

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I read on this site that they arent producing any SS's in ABM yet because originally it was not supposed to be a SS color option.

Once again...could be wrong on this one but just thought I'd try to help offer a suggestion.

Called 866 # today. Still waiting for production the only good thing was I had them make sure the rs package was still on the order . They comfirmed that at least . But other than that they were useless...

You know....I thought of that, but then I see others taking delivery of their ABM 2SS's, so who knows what's up........ I'm thinking of flying to Oshawa......Anybody in??

I ordered a 2SS, black on black, moonroof being the only option. Manual 6 speed, nothin fancy really...other than it is a CAMARO!!!

Called the 1-800 number yesterday. The 2nd time a called. First time was a waste, but figured I'd give it another try.

I was transfered twice, put on hold for about 5 minutes, and then the lady came back on and said she didn't have ANY information in the system on my order.

She took my number and said she would call me back after looking into it further. I thought, "yea, right." Figured she was just giving the canned response.

Well, today she called back.

Told me my car has been built, but is being held for quality control purposes. Asked me to be patient because it could take up to four more weeks for delivery due to that. She also said she called my dealer to confirm. I checked with him. Sure enough, she did call. Said he had the VIN #, but didn't remember off the top of his head. It was late in the evening so he said he'd call me in the morning with it.

Guess the 1-800 # is worth trying. Sometimes you get lucky.

And I thought the only thing we had in common was waiting to take ownership of 2010 Camaro's!? Drink up!!! Maybe if we pass out long enough we'll wake to find our cars got here?

Absolutely nothing. 5600 and 5700 are generic numbers where you choose what you want. The other number goes direct to a Chevy prompt, but its the same person answering regardless of what # you call.

I called the 866 number on Tuesday 5/5 to check on my order since my dealer is a moron. After taking my dealer's info, the guy I was speaking to (sounded East Indian) put me on hold for 5 minutes, and came back and said my car was "being built as we speak". I called again on Friday, and the girl did the exact same thing, took dealer's info, on hold five minutes, then said my car was scheduled for production but no date was specified. The number is useless IMO.
BTW, I called because my dealer took delivery on a 2SS, same as my order, and delivered it to a customer that did not pre-order, and just said "his came in". I don't believe them, I think they sold my car for more than sticker or to someone close to the ownership. I was second of a total of 4 pre-orders taken. #1 was black, mine was Yellow, #3 was a 2LT, and #4 was V Red. The guy doesn't remember telling me about these back in January, and on April 30th, he told me they only took 4 early orders. He also told me they would get no cars, not even their one V-6 showroom car, by May 6th. When I called anyway on 5/6, he let it slip that a customer took delivery the day before on a Yellow 2SS car. I think he didn't realize it was me when he said it. I think the 866 people put me on hold and called the dealership to find out what was going on since my order code showed a delivery. The inventory guy probably said to tell me it was being built to appease me. Same thing Friday I think. Am I paranoid? Sure. Should I be? Well, I read what happens to other people, and there's not a lot of positive offsetting it.
I am not happy about it but I am taking care of it in my own way....

I think they sold your car dude.

I'm not optimistic. There's a couple of others here with the same kind of story.

You need to find out more info on this car they sold.

Here's my suggestion: At any point did you ever get a VIN# or a printout of your order? I was just thinking that you should ask for a printout of the workbench on your car.....that would have everything on it.....all the codes,dates, your info., etc. If that was your car they sold to someone else, then the workbench would show that they took your order on said date and every code from that date on including VIN#. If they won't give you a printout, then I would think they surely sold your car to someone else. If they won't give you a printout, PM me your order# and I will see if I can get a printout for you.

Does anyone know at what event code # (Im still at 1100)you can call the 1-800 # and get some kind of answer on your car status? I'm not asking so much for me but for others further along in the process.
